I fell down an escalator as a little girl, so i understand the fear.

I am afraid of escalators, elevators, caves, crowds, the dark, lightning, wind, and cockroaches.

spiders, snakes, none of that stuff bothers me. but cockroaches. boy oh boy those things creep me out beyond belief...

OMG Luis, you reminded me of a story from a long time ago. One of my friends one time almost got trapped in an elevator! I wasn't there but he told a whole group about it; it must have been horrifying! I forget exactly what happened, but man that would have not been cool.

A few years ago, a little girl got her shoe trap in an escalator at a Dilliards store in Tampa. When she reached down to free her show, she lost 3 fingers on her hand to the escalator. Since then several women have comeforward to say that they had their shoes trapped at the same escalator. The young girl's parents sued Dillards for neglecting to maintain the escalator and allowing it to fall in disrepair. The trial is now in session .

I used to be terrified of roaches and spiders, but something about having kids and being required to be the "protector from all things scary" made me get over it.

I also used to react to heights. If I looked out a window of anything taller than 3 stories, I'd go into a panic attack and felt like electrical shocks were running though my hands and feet. That too seems to have abated as I get older.

I used to have a snake as a pet, so, as long as I can identify it, I am not afraid of snakes. It is the "identifying" part that can be tricky. In the wide open with a clear view is one thing, but a sudden, unexpected encounter in the wild with a split second to decide if it is good or bad is another thing entirely.

Here is a memorable quote for snake-a-phobes

Black or red
who can tell
either way
run like hell

ROACHES!! I once stripped in my front yard when one flew at me. It was on the side of my house and I sprayed it with wasp spray (or so I thought...it kills them instantly) and it flew at me. I freaked out, stripping and moving my arms and legs in ways I didn't know they'd move trying to make sure it was NOT on me! I despise the things and keep my house exterminated often to make sure I don't share living quarters with them.

Spiders? Blah...they don't scare me.

Apparently, I'm also a bit claustrophobic as well. When I was having real bad headaches, I had to get an MRI and I couldn't do it. I tried the music, closing my eyes...nope! Not gonna happen! I had to reschedule it at a different place with the new "open" MRI machines. It was open on both sides but it comes down so far and is so wide, I still had a very hard time, but I made it. I had to take a Valium though. lol

I have phobia with roaches after a flying one came to my head and stayed for a while. Since that moment I can't get close and kill them even with sprays.
