Annette....we all have our medical battles to fight. Blood pressure is one of those things that can be managed by both medication and lifestyle changes (the same two things that can change most all of our problems, right?).

Good luck in getting and keeping it under control.

Remember...if you feel it about to top out over something going on in your life...just hit a few keystrokes and post a "JUST VENTING" message on Storm2k. That will lower it by a few points right away!

Ive been taking meds to control my blood pressure and slow my heart down for a few years now. After changing jobs and quitting drinking and smoking i only require half the dose I used to take :D The meds will make you tired for a week or so until your body adjusts; be careful not to stand up to quickly until then or you run the risk of getting dizzy. One more thing...do NOT drink grapefruit juice..as it reacts with most blood pressure meds to produce dangerously LOW blood pressure. Ask your doctor about this. Good luck to you!

Lots of good advice on this thread, especially what Steve said about "VENTING". We're good listeners ... I mean readers. :D
Good to know that you're doing a good job of taking care of yourself, Annette. Your wx buddies care about you!

My doc started me on a BP med, yesterday - gotta keep up
the BP diary for two weeks, and, go back for a visit.

Guess my days as "The Margarita Queen" are over!

Say it isn't so? No more margarita's with you Annette? Oh my.....we will definitely find a more suitable drink to enjoy from our lawn chairs huh?

How about iced tea? Or is that too tame? LOL

Sorry to hear this. Meant to respond before now but each time I'd click on your thread, I'd have to log off. Is that telling me something? I dunno......he he

Sounds as if you're being a good patient here and following doc's orders. We have a good friend with HBP but he's takes his meds religiously, works out, eats rights. Jim's chlorestorol was borderline high and with heart disease so prevalent in his family, he was put on meds. Now they're very low, only 10 mg. He too works out and has his one or two medicinal beer's a night.....LOL Gets his blood checked every 6 months, etc.

It does suck big time when your body starts failing you. For me my 40s were not easy! No way!!! But they're winding down....now I want those blasted 40s back!!! LOL
