Florida Weenies - post your low temps here.

#1 Postby Terry » Sun Jan 23, 2005 6:46 pm

:D

We're suppose to get down to the mid-twenties here in Lakeland. That's very hard to grasp since the high today reached 64 and it is now 48.

The tropical plants are either covered with sheets (FL-cracker snow), brought inside, or in the "survival of the fittest" category. For the sake of the FL agriculture industry, I hope the low temperatures don't pan out.

Its about 49 and the wind is starting to give a little bite here. TWC says 40, Accuweather says 38, I personally think around 35. I dont buy a 12 hour decrease in temps of just 9 degrees. Hopefully the wind doesnt die down, I like a good wind chill in the 20's :D .

Its presently 41 with a wind chill of 35, and forecast for a low of 29. I will be very surprised if it gets to 33. I helped mama cover the garden this morning, and I will turn the spigot on so the well keeps pumping. The winds seemed to have died down to nothing which will help the strawberry farmers with their spraying.

Getting very cold out. Im surprised that its only 45 out. Feels much colder. Windchill is in the 30s. Id be surprised if TWC's forecast for a low of 40 panned out.

24 at the airport in Jacksonville this morn.

Was 32.4 on my max/min thermometer on the SE side of the river downwind, and in the heat shadow of the city.

Not as cold as some predicted.

LOL - This is an error. My WeatherBug shows the low here in Lakeland hit 19.4 degrees. Not! May be 30. But it is fun to see that temp still sitting on my computer.

We are in for another freeze tonite. Back-to-back freezes is not very common here these days.

It definitely got lower than the 38 degrees they said for here this morning. If Lauderdale got down to 38 we were at least 34 or 35. Regardless, it was some strong good cold I hadnt felt for over a year. The wind made it all the better :D .

if you had any sort of sea breeze that would keep the temp up so dont assume becuase we are 38 that you were colder

At 6 a.m. today the NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach was reporting 38 degrees with a wind chill of 13. I have a 2 story stucco home on a small "lake" with all tile flooring on both stories. Tropical wimp that I have become -- barely 5 years removed from a 50-year-lifetime in the Chicago area --, I turned a space heater on while I showered!

13? More like 33. If it was 13 you would definitely not want to be outside.
