HOW THE CASE HAS UNFOLDED
Jan. 18: Oscar J. Sanchez, whose family owns La Calle Doce and El Ranchito restaurants, is abducted on Jan. 18 from a north Oak Cliff street.
Wednesday: The kidnappers fail to show up for a ransom rendezvous. Police raid a Duncanville house where they believe Mr. Sanchez was held. Signs of a bloody struggle are found.
Friday: Police say they suspect Mr. Felix, a Dallas schoolteacher, and Edgar Acevedo, a former El Ranchito employee, in the kidnapping of Mr. Sanchez.
Saturday: Unbeknown to police, Mr. Acevedo catches a plane to Guadalajara, Mexico, from Chicago where he and Mr. Felix have been staying.
Sunday: Chicago police arrest Mr. Felix as he is about to board a plane for Guadalajara. He tells police that Mr. Sanchez is dead and tells them where to look for the body in the Dallas area.
Monday: Dallas police search a field in southeast Oak Cliff by helicopter, with mounted officers, on foot and with a scent dog. They find a box of bloody clothes. In Chicago, Mr. Felix declines to fight extradition back to Texas.
