breakup

#1 Postby kevin » Tue Jan 25, 2005 2:48 am

My girlfriend of two and a half years says she doesn't love me anymore. I understand and accept this.. but just wish it didn't hurt so bad. Knowing that it isn't because of anything I did, but rather because things just lost their meaning to her, doesn't help matters..

Any advice?

Just remember that it's better to find out now than if it happened after you were married and had children in the relationship. Now you will have a chance to find someone who feels the same way about you as you do about her. Good luck to you in the future.

I'm sorry to hear about this. It is always tough after a long term relationship ends. 1st off you are already on the way to healing if you know it wasn't you and aren't blaming yourself. Don't be in a hurry to move into a new relationship and remember not every date/relationship needs to move towards a permanent relationship. When you are with "the right one" it will be more than obvious.

I am sorry to hear that it happened Kevin but if it is your first relationship dont worrie because you will have new oportunitys for new relations but dont go fast because then you may not have the choice that you want so take it slow because eventually the best one that you like the most will come.

I'm sorry Kevin. Breakups are never easy, especially when you love someone. You have to give yourself time. There is someone out there waiting for you and all you have to give them. And that person will make you so happy that the pain you are feeling now will be nothing more than a memory.

You can say that again. I went through much the same on August 20, 2004. :( It sucks. But hang in there...there are other fish in the sea. Another way to see it is, that life is too darned short to worry about a relationship. You're in your teens/20s right? Well don't tie yourself down. Kick back and enjoy life.

I'm very sorry, Kevin. There is not a lot anyone can say to make it all Ok. However, time does help to heel and bring perspective and new love.

When my son's girlfriend broke up with him freshman year in college it really deeply hurt him. I encouraged him to stay friends/stay in touch with her in order to help him figure out what happened. Too many people tend to make the same mistakes over and over again with different people.

He did stay in touch with her and he seemed to learn more and more about the relationship and himself. They don't talk often, but since they share an important history (late high school and attending the samesmall northern college) it is nice that they keep that link to the past going.

Hang in there and know that your friends at s2k care.

Thanks everyone, you all offer good advice. I really appreciate it..

We're going to be friends, and things will move on. This was my first long relationship, so I guess like Terry said I'll just try and learn from it.

Oh yes... breaks up. We all go through them. 2.5 years is alot... my relationship was only 12 weeks, a week shy of 3 months... so it wasn't as bad.. but it was my first one, and in my opinion true love, so it hurt. (Let alone we broke up in Friday the 13th...)

anyways.. i don't know how old you are, so i can't say anything about "at this point in life.. you shouldn't be making life time decisions" which is why she might of left.. But, honestly.. I really don't know what to tell you... the only thing I can say is what someone else said... find someone else and move on.

Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear that! Each day the pain and disappointment will become less - you have to give yourself time.
