Snow In Cent OK (OK City/Norman area)
Not sure if anyone posted this or not (if so mods delete this thread). WOke up to see a nice surprise this morning. SNOW here in Norman, OK!!! Was supposed to stay north of OK City but I guess the heavy rains last night were able to drop temps (which were in the mids 30;s) low enough to make the changeover. Glad I don't work today as I know the roads are a mess and people here can't drive at ALL in this stuff.

Actually just looked at latest wx ob and the temp in Norman is 34 degrees. So actually not below freezing at the surface. However, already have maybe an 1in or so on the ground and some on the roads which is kind of odd considering the surface temps. Just took at look at the soundings and this warm layer at the surface is indeed very shallow (lower than 960-975mb if I had to eyeball from the sounding).

Being from SE-VA and going to school in Raleigh, NC I'm use to seeing more snow than this (was in school during the big central NC snow storm of 2000). But I've already come to expect very non-eventful winters as long as I'm living out here in central OK. So for me I guess I'd better relish this snow we have for now b/c I probably won't see anymore for a looong time
