Wow, my dad made me mow the lawn this afternoon and it was pretty tough...and I can't remember mowing the lawn this early in the season. The grass had grown to a length that was normal in mid March. Although all things point to spring, a harsh weather system could disrupt everything and really screw things up for the animals and natural life. I think some people are forgetting it's still early February and spring does not officially begin until the middle, end of March.
I think cooking a few hamburgers on the grill would be awesome tonight. I might ask my dad to do that...or I may do it myself. It's still 58 F at 5pm...insane. But you can't deny that it was a beautiful day!!!
Man, I wish I were playing some golf today. A few friends and I were gonna skip afternoon classes and head to the Harbor Pointe golf course, but I had a stupid test in Statistics. Today would have been a perfect day.
This premature spring/summer is awesome for now, but our mountains desperately need winter.

Model watchers... following up on yesterday's discussion... did you notice how the GFS has started its moderation of the weekend event?
Snow_Wizzard... please tell me that you are not hanging to the notion of a major pattern change with an extended period of cold and lowland snow.
Maybe something minor in March... but not now.

The funny thing is, the GFS was NEVER showing arctic air/lowland snow...I think the coldest it got was -9C 850 mb heights with 500 mb heights down to 528...these two scenarios don't add up to snow below 1000 feet. At any rate, it will be nice to see different weather this weekend. And with 1-2 feet of snow up in the mountains, hopefully the ski resorts can reopen...but it's very doubtful at this moment. I hope we don't return to another ridge next week...I want a zonal flow that brings tons of mountain snow. The ECMWF model wants to retrograde the ridge further west which would open the door to a northwest flow aloft...but the GFS is being stubborn with an amplified ridge right off the west coast.

I mowed my lawn this evening as well Anthony while I was waiting for the charcoal to to get ready. Nothing like a really nice sunset that reflected off the dead calm waters of LK Goodwin, hamburgers on the grill and the smell of freshly cut grass, and a temp still in the upper 50's........The date on this forum is wrong, it can't be 2/2/05, it's 6/2/05!!!! 
Has cooled off now, down to 49 degrees, but it still has that warm summer smell in the air. Also the frogs a croaking like crazy!!
Anthony, looks like tomarrow morning should be dry and warm, (normally I wouldn't condone this) you should skip school and play a little golf while the conditions are so awesome. Sounds like tomarrow afternoon on it will get a little wet.

Unfortunately I have a Spanish test 1st period...7:15 am...man, my high school starts too early. I really want to play golf though...maybe I'll skip afternoon classes...with the start of second semester, we have 12 more days to be absent!!! lol.
Still 53 F. The conditions are partly cloudy...it smells like spring.

First question........Its Kayak Point Golf Course, I live 4minutes away, talk about a long commute
Its a forest lined course, with only 2 houses visible from the course. Tons of wildlife! We even had a cougar living there last winter.

I am really surprised that the NWS isn't being at least a little more careful about this weekend... I hear TTSEA is saying the moderation period has started with the GFS? Well I sure don't see that because it actually has thicknesses down to 516 for a short period of time. If anything, the GFS is getting progressively cooler with each run with the exception of a run here and there. I think temps will be actually pretty cold this weekend. What are your thoughts on this TT? If you wouldn't have read the NWS discussion what would say this weekend's temps will be like?
