Global average temperatures have increased over the last 125 years to the best of our understanding, and the confidence in this is thought to be quite high. Pulling out a record from one season at one point on the Earth will tell you absolutely nothing about global climate change. What it does show you is annual variability. It is also impossible to draw a conclusion that the temp in Philly hasn't changed without drawing a trend line. It's a little too hard to eye that one, in my opinion.
Also, we can't really use history as a lesson here, because as far as we know, no other industrial revolutions have occured in our past, or on any other planet. No one has ever put this much CO2 in the atmosphere. Of course, there are many other things that affect the climate, but many studies show it won't take much to tip the climate into one extreme or the other (which was the basic premise for The Day After Tomorrow). Being prepared for any change that will negatively impact our economy and well-being is better than doing nothing at all, right? I'm all for cleaning up our atmosphere, oceans, lakes, rivers, streams and nature in general!

Obviously, its gotta have an effect since we are pouring billions of tons of it in our atmsosphere. Feel the exhaust of your car. It is hot, right? Well guess where all that heat goes, into the atmosphere. There is no basis on doubting global warming. Why are the polar ice caps melting? Why are the summers and winters both getting more extreme? Why are there more powerful hurricanes? Global warming. Eventually, the rain forests will turn to desert and civilization will perish. It must be stopped soon.
Yeah....

I suppose you believe the ice around the North pole, if it melts, will increase seas levels too. Besides articles from NASA indicate areas in Antarctica are thickening. The seasons aren't getting more extreme and its certainly not because of global warming. Are you kidding about the more powerful hurricanes thing? The hurricanes have always been there and have always been strong, its just that they hit Florida this year. In years past they missed but since they hit land people think hurricanes are getting stronger. You might want to do some research before you blindly and arrogantly claim the world is in decline because of global warming. The Sahara desert is in retreat. Trees and plants are returning across portions of the desert. More than likely the rise of temps is a pattern, after looking back on the past few thousand years. Back when Greenland was green and Hannibal crossed the Alps. Which according to alot of historians could have never happened if it hadn't been unusually warmer.
Global warming has been completely hijacked by politics. Now the real deal about global warming is probably in the middle of the two extremes. Most dems and europeans claim the earth is warming at an alarming rate...which has been proved wrong. We have warmed but not by as much as some claim. The other extreme are the ones that claim global warming is non-existent. Now the release of greenhouse gases more than likely has some effect, but its likely it is not as great as many claim.
