Snowing in D.C
Southern system has more punch than forecasted (surprise). Moderate snow right now in and around D.C. Metro. Snow now starting to stick in Fredericksburg and up to Frederick especially on grassy surfaces nad staring on the roads. Temps marginal and less than 1 inch expected from the event. It is a far cry from the forecast of partly cloudy and 48 degrees for D.C. just yesterday.

it has been snowing here in Reston, VA the whole day. started at 10 this morning and still coming down now. No one called this one. The "weather" people are lucky that the temp has stayed at about 33 the whole day and nothing is really sticking, or else I think we could have a good 4 inches. yesterday they were saying we might get a flurry.

what happened?
We recieved at least 3 inches of snow yesterday if not more here in Purcellville, va. There was never a mention of snow from all the reports, except "maybe" a flurry. Visibility was bad, roads were untreated and it caught everyone off guard. People were stuck on the sides of the roads, including myself. Not to mention my car is still in the ditch. With all the technology I can't believe we were not warned about this ahead of time. Very disappointing.

Cincinnati had this surprise snowfall too yesterday. It was supposed to be less than 1 inch, no big deal....well it was almost 4 inches of wet, slushy snow. That started before am rush hour, continuing on thru the morning. Prompting schools to delay and some rurals ones to close outright.
This is the third time local Mets were wrong or didn't predict a snowfall correctly. Now I realize this isn't an exact science.....but 3 times this winter they've been wrong? I think anytime the temps are near 32 and the sky turns that dark grey color, people here start to think.....snow maybe? LOL
