It's true I haven't recieved as much snow as I'd like for the year my location is sitting at 13" our avg. is about 35" ( still have about 8 weeks to make up for that though) but that's beside the point whether this storm would effect me or not, I wan't people to know as it could be serious situation... 2-3 ft would be nice in my back yard sure, but I say it as an informative statement for everyone else, not for my "-removed-", I don't wishcast, If I was I'd have said...

"East Coast Be Prepared For A Crippling Blizzard, Expext 2-4 Feet Burrying The I-95 Corridor", Inseatd I said that the patter was shaping up as one that could support a massive storm, I gave creddible resources including 2 Senior Forecasters and 2 Different Models Sorecasting This Scenerio, I don't think that's -removed- but I maybe wrong, maybe it is... you say it is

OK krysof. Put yourself into the shoes of people in my area. We had Frances and Ivan in September and heavy rains this month. Lots of people either had basement flooding, filling their complete basement, flooding on first levels of their houses, or completely losing their houses downstream. Then theres the mudslides.. like the one in California.. not as bad.. people lost houses or are going to from those too. Few people died from the flooding. Just imagine cleaning mud from basements 3 times in 4 months. People along the river got flooded twice in 4 months. Just yesterday, flood warnings were lifted from a neighboring county. 3 towns were surrounded by water. Every road impassable. People that didnt leave got stuck for 2 weeks. No way on or off the "island".

Next time you make a statement like that, just think about some of the things that people here had to go through or are going through. Still not cleaned up here. People losing every single possession they had. Memories lost forever. Think next time.

I'd rather see it ride right up the Appalachains myself so we get hit with heavy snow in Pittsburgh. It stays west of the Appalachains then it'll go right over us and either turn into rain or ice here (which we DEFINITELY don't need at this point) and/or we'll get a dry slot go over us in the center of the circulation! I don't need to get stuck in the middle of another dry slot from another storm, like this last one!

Re: -removed- and Early Forecasts

I certainly do not want or need any more snow. I've plenty.

On the other hand, if there is a storm approaching--or even the possibility--I'd rather know about it and read the discussions, etc. than not have anyone talk about it. After all, that's the purpose of Storm 2K, isn't it?

Yes, this is still a ways in the future, but that's the point, isn't it?

I think we all learn something from reading these posts--and frankly, I'm surprised at how accurate they are overall.

As far as posting for the "blizzard" went, Storm2K forecast it long before any local forecasters. I'm very grateful for the extra preparation time this board afforded me because I was not out doing last minute shopping and storm preparation and we were not caught unprepared. Many here on Cape Cod were because "it never snows on Cape Cod" and "when it does, there is not that much snow and it melts quickly." Hah! Our neighbors thought I was nuts when I offered to do a store run for them before the storm, but now they think "my weather board" is magic or something for having forecast this mess.

The different ideas and opinions and interpretations are all part of what makes Storm2K special. And I'm fascinated by all the different "voices" on Storm2K.

So keep posting! And don't knock other's posts--just post your counter opinion. We'll all find out sooner or later.

Those are good points Persepone.

We have been blessed with a wonderful mix of pro and amateur forecasters. We always like to encourage people to learn about weather and how to forecast it.

Is there any possible snowstorm on the horizon for the mid-atlantic states? I thought this was supposed to be a cold, snowy February.

henry margusty from accuweather already has canceled the biblical east coast snow for next week, now says a track to the great lakes, with rain and mild along the coast.

stormman... I know somewhere in this thread I mentioned the possibilty of it cutting to the lakes, the title of the thread, which was a viable possibilty at the time was used more for impact than anything else...

OMG - a biblical storm is coming our way ????? Boy we could be talking over 20 feet of snow if it's "biblical" or 20 stories of snow maybe. We could all be buried under ice forever..............boy am I scared to death now............sounds like the Day after Tomorrow is coming for us........

Guess we'd better evacuate immediately eh ?? :D

The word biblical was used to describe based on iformation at the time, plus other mets were using the phrase... And no hope is not gone for the east getting this storm once we get into the Friday period
