Long term (Wednesday through Monday): We are expanding the winter storm watch to include all of our county warning area. This includes Cheshire and Hillsborough counties in Southern New Hampshire, all of Western MA except Berkshire county, and Hartford and Tolland counties in Northern Connecticut.

12Z eta, gfs, ukmet, and Canadian models are all in complete agreement, believe it or not. Storm will be hard hitting and long lasting. Models show low deepening to 988 mb to the E of Cape Cod Thu afternoon. Thicknesses are cold enough for all snow N and W of Interstate 495. There May be a mix at times in the i-95 corridor but majority will be snow. From Plymouth southward enough warm air May delay the onset of the heavy snow until sometime late Thursday morning.

The potential exists for much more than a foot of snow, especially in the NW half of the area, where fluff factor will cause 20:1 snow to liquid water equivalent ratios or higher. 18 To 24 inches not out of question in some areas.

May See as much as 6 inches in a quick burst late Wed night in Northern CT and Western MA. Will evaluate this to determine whether we will be issuing a warning as early as late this afternoon.

There is the potential for scattered power outages especially in the transition area where the wettest clingy snow will be, mainly along the i-95 corridor. There is a chance of at least minor coastal flooding as well at the times of high tide Thursday and Thursday night along the Eastern MA coast.
