((Hugs)) Mary. I know how sad that can be. My prayers will go out to the loved ones of this young man in hope that God will give them daily strength to endure that pain.

Why don't you sit back in the rocker and grab Grannies afgan. I'll brew you a cup of Earl Grey.

Take care my friend

Boy do I need a spell in Grannie's rocker Karan. And the tea sounds perfect, it's a nasty, gray, rainy day in Cincinnati. Very dreary. But, and there's always a but isn't there...I'm heading down to a Mock Trial for my daughter Nina's team. They go on at 4:30 and she's a lawyer this year. So I can't miss that. Have to drive downtown, hopefully I'll find a spot to park at....that's not always so easy to find, unless you pay day rates of $7 to 10!

But I do have this sad funeral on my mind. We all do in on the street and the community. He was from a wonderful blended family, both his parents remarried, and in the home on our street, each parent had 3 children. We often joked they were the Brady Bunch. 6 bedrooms, 4 baths too (they finished off the basement right from the start adding huge windowells, for code requirements. When we all saw this home going up, we thought - wow this is a large family moving in. So many, many people are affected and saddened by his loss.

Thanks so much Karan.

My condolences to you and your neighborhood as well. That's always hard to deal with especially when it's someone so young.

Mary....how sad and tragic...I said a prayer for all those affected by the loss of young Ryan...has to be the greatest pain a family could ever endure...

I just found the time to pop in and say hello to ya'll...big hugs everyone...Our company has come and gone...love having company, but its always nice to have your house to yourselves too!

We just decided to let the kids throw a Valentine's party this Sat., so been busy doing up invites and cards and shopping for their b/f's - g/f's gifts, etc...WHEN did MY kids get old enough to shop for boyfriends and girlfriends??!! sigh...

We leave for a quickie camping trip near san Diego, (we live near San Diego for that matter), Sun/Mon...no school on Monday...Pray for me...we're trying out TENT camping! *rolls eyes...Hubby got that new SUV designed for camping...and decided we're gonna be rough and rugged and sleep in a piece of canvas out in the cold....(I did purchase a queen airbed on a metal stand, which will be completed with a bed skirt, feather bed and down comforter...) The tent looks like a darned circus tent...stands almost 9 feet tall ...its ridiculous! Even has 2 "bay" windows, a screened porch room, with 2 rounded fancy skylight windows reminicent of a mountain lodge panoramic window...but its still a TENT...and I don't like tents! So, wish us luck...think of me shivering out in the cold, being kept awake by wild mountain lion screams while you're all snug and toasty in your cozy fluffy beds! :P Why oh Why did we leave the camper behind in Louisiana!!??

Have a good week all...hugs

Fur - nice for you to check in. You sound as busy as always. And thanks for the email pic you sent also.

Enjoy the Valentine's Day party. In a similar way, I always wanted my girls to host a Halloween party. A party where there are no relatives coming (snooping mothers that notice cobwebs, etc., my mom, ugh). No presents to buy. In other words, a stress free type party. We never quite pulled that off, but they have had H. sleepovers before (and no, no one ever got sick on all the candy they had eaten).

But a V. Day party....now that's a very good idea! Have fun with it and the camping trip.

Thanks everyone for your kind words about our neighbor's son. So many neighbors have come forward to help out in any way they could - housesitting during the service (isn't it awful thieves rob homes during this time period?), pet sitting (they have a dog and a cat), meals, etc. It's comforting to know I'm surrounded by nice neighbors. But our hearts are still broken for this family.

Miss Mary:

We let them throw a Christmas party with gift exchangeand a dance/party for Chloe's birthday. All the kids love it and ask for more parties, and it gives us the oppurtunity to "observe" the kids interacting and see who and what their friends are like and how they act when they think no one is watching...I even invite other parents to come and stay, so it gives me the oppurtunity to meet some moms. The drama is always way too much, and I swore after the Christmas party there would be NO MORE parties...not bc of how my kids acted, but bc of how a few of the others acted...I solved the problem this time tho...the boy who caused the most drama at the last party...well, I invited his mom to this one...A.) He's not even allowed to have a g/f B.) With his momma and girlfriend BOTH there, lets see how he acts this time! Gotta always be 1 step ahead of these guys! :O)

Eric...have I sent you a recent pic of Brett and Chloe? They've really grown so much!

C'm on Mary...no camping comments???? LOL

Of course I'll take pictures...in fact, I have a pic of the tent I'll email you now...lol Karan...didn't you love your pop up? I've gone from tents, to popups to travel travels, and back to a popup...its my fav way to camp...unzipped you still have the feel and sights of nature, yet you have comforts as well...its my fav! Hated the travel trailer...was too cooped up inside...

Ugly grey day here today...we're expecting some heavy rains Fri/Sat...hope it stops in time for our camping trip...

Miss Mary...hows the neighborhood holding up? Ya'll are all still in my heart and prayers...

Okay.....two shocks today I've had.

Poppysky was kidnapped! By Chad and j.....well, sort of. Steve started a topic about a new airline, owned by Hooters.....I'll leave it at that.

And Fur sent me a picture of their camping tent!

I just have to ask....what next? Linda - a Democrat maybe?

Ouch Linda.....that hurt!!!! :-)

Mary

PS - our neighborhood is so sad Fur, but we're taking turns visiting with the boy's mom during the day and next week we'll all pair up to bring them dinner each night. Thanks for asking.

I have happy news on my area... Last weekend I put in my paperwork to transfer bases from General Mitchell (34th APS: 440th Airlift Wing) to Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu (48th APS). My commander ok'ed the transfer and I was taken OFF the alternate deployment list. :D :D That was a major sigh of relief! I can graduate with everyone else on May 21st! :D :D :D Yay!!! However, a good majority of my squadron is deploying... so I'll miss them when they leave on April 3rd. Germany trip is coming! March 5-19. I can't wait. May 22nd... the day after graduation I hop a plane for Hawaii... classes start May 23rd (Yes, that's quick!)

Sad news to share....my husband's aunt passed away this morning. His dad's sister. This is of course on the heels of our neighbor's 18 year old son's passing last weekend. This has sure been a sad, sad time. In my community and now my husband's family.

My father-in-law is the last remaining relative from his generation, his wife passed away 12 years ago. Her sister and husband also passed away in this past decade. So he's somewhat alone but not really, he has a wonderful family to lean on right now (my husband's 4 sisters really rally around the person grieving, quite well I might add). So we'll help him thru this loss.

Thanks for listening...

Mary,

It's wonderful when a community of neighbors come together in times of a tragedy...such as Ryan's. So very sorry to hear of Jim's aunt passing away.
((((((((HUGS))))))) to you all. :( Prayers and thoughts continue for Ryan's family and will be praying and thinking of Jim, Jim's sisters and their dad and for you and the girls.

Shannon (Furry), :)

I pray and hope that the kids' Valentine Party goes well today...perhaps a gentleman like Brett should in part guide that other young man on proper behavior/etiquette in a social setting! :) No, I haven't received a recent pic of Brett and Chloe...will look forward to getting one by either snail mail or email! :)

Karan, :)

Was it you who first introduced Earl Grey tea to our online Wx Family? :) If so, I've tried it a few times now, Wxbuddy, and it's really great-tasting! :)

Shannon (Pojo), :)

It's terrific that your commander was able to accomodate you for your graduation on May 21st!! :D Have fun on your trip to Germany! :) 8-) My sister Retha when she was in college at Anderson University in Indiana...she went with a group of fellow students on a trip to Europe...they had a tour of Germany, Switzerland, England, France, etc! :D This was back in like 1985 or '86. :) Hawaii sounds absolutely AWESOME, too, Wxbuddy!!!! :D 8-)

Hey all...... My mom fell and rolled down 6 steps in front of our downtown Cathedral, Sunday afternoon. She had come out of Mass with her RCIA (in coming Catholic's, studying to join our Church) group and it was raining. Missed a step and down she went. She broke her arm, high up near the shoulder. Since it's a fx up high, she got a sling, not a cast. This will be a slow 6 week heal. I've been over there pretty much since it happened, except for about 5 to 6 hours to catch sleep (ha, what's that?). So think of my mom, if anyone is saying their prayers. She's continuing to do better, just in a lot of pain, as you can imagine. We have her as comfortable as she can be sitting propped up on her couch, since her bed is out right now. And of course she announces it's now time to get a recliner.....so we'll look into that soon. I'll be visiting her daily to see if she needs anything. My brother went out for easy to open foods for her. I mentioned applesauce cups, since she's quessy. He came home with 36 from Sam's Club! I said 36? We're not feeding triplets here....LOL But his heart was in the right place.

First our neighbor's son passing away - that was so tragic and hard to grasp. Still is and will be for a long time (it was suicide). Then my husband's aunt passing away this past Saturday (funeral is Wednesday). Then my mom fell and was rushed to the ER yesterday. My youngest just asked me - Mom, what next? Oh, the power went out for 2 hours too I heard....I wasn't home. It was raining but not storming, so no one really understands why that happened. Each time I'd call home to give my family updates on my mom (we thought at one time she might need surgery), they kept saying something else strange had happened.

I'm afraid to ask what else...not touching that question. But it could be much worse for my mom. We keep telling how lucky she was that she didn't break a hip or leg. Of course she doesn't see it that way yet but she is lucky she can be home. Comfortable around her things. Thanks for listening everyone. Feeling somewhat disconnected. Been away from the boards for almost 2 days now - gasp!

((Hugs)) Miss Mary. I'll be praying for your Mom. Give that hubby of yours a big hug and I'll send prayers for him and also his family. You definitely have earned a nice relaxing day without any stress at all. Maybe this weekend!!!

Pojo, looks like everything is falling into place for you. Your life is so very exciting!!! I'm happy for ya.

Shannon, did you have a great time??? Pictures would be nice!!!!! I have to admit that I love a pop up better than a travel trailer. As you said you can unzip the sides and feel that you're right outside with nature.

Eric, I think I did introduce Earl Grey back at TWC. I would steep a nice pot of tea and sit in the rocker with my Grannies afgan. It is a really good tea. If you like that try English Breakfast tea. It's really good too.

Well, speaking of tea, I think I'll brew a nice pot for all to enjoy. (I left some KK's on the mantle - the chocolate covered ones are for David)

Take care my friends and have a great day!!!
