Very foggy night in Atlanta area

#1 Postby LarryWx » Tue Feb 15, 2005 12:36 am

This evening has been the foggiest of recent memory in much of the Atlanta area. A check of other regions indicates that it is fairly widespread in parts of GA/SC/NC/TN/FL/AL due to a combination of low level moisture from recent rains, light winds, and dry air aloft allowing dewpoints to be reached. Drivers beware.

Still thick as pea-soup this AM. This is the thickest, most dense fog I've seen around here in a long, long time. Very scary driving in it--day or night.

Widespread fog is correct, and as of Noon EST, it still is definitely struggling to lift out ... very light winds, leftover moisture from yesterday's rainfall, and with the cold front (if one can call it that) as diffuse as it was did not sweep out anything ...

In fact, the low's this morning only fell into the mid-50's ...
