Winter storm possible this weekend?
Almost all of the local mets (3 out of 4) around my area (philly) are saying that there is a good chance of significant snow from sunday night to monday.

Jrodd312,
I'm not surprised that some of Philly's mets are pointing out the possibility for significant snow. Philly is very much in the game for snow/ice. The models might still be a little slow in firming up the details but things still look good.

Re: Winter storm possible this weekend?
Jrodd312,
One thing to look for is the position of the high pressure. If it is over Vermont or north and west of there, look for mainly snow or ice. If it is over New Hampshire or north and least, look for a probable changeover. With the growing blocking, I don't expect the high to race eastward but the initial position will still be important. All in all, I do believe Philly will see accumulating snow. And, more importantly, I doubt that this will be the last accumulating snow of the season.
Debate over the idea of a pattern change is now effectively finished. It's coming. Now, it remains to see what the details will be: how much snow and how cold.

Bouncy-bouncy
Bouncy-bouncy. Now the NWS (where Wunderground gets its forecasts from) came out with a new forecast at the unusual time of 6:40 PM, and it now calls for this event to be all rain. It's like watching the ball bounce on a floor with squares marked "rain" and "snow" on it, wondering where it is going to land.
