Great progress, vbhoutex, j, and chad!

I tried a new piece of equipment at the Y last week, a Nu-Step, which is a recumbent stepper with handles for simultaneous upper body movement (i.e., pushing-pulling) . About 15 minutes at resistance level 5 (of 10) was as much as my hips could handle twice last week. The floor trainer suggested alternating between choosing 30 min. treadmill or 15(+) min. of nu-step every workout.

I missed exercising yesterday (cleaned home closets instead); today I had good intentions but was involved in a highway incident on the way home from a.m. classes (very minor damage to my car, no personal physical damage, and a HUGE prayer of thanksgiving for protection). Since I got home late and have to leave for p.m. classes in about an hour, I missed exercising today, as well. But it's top priority early tomorrow!

Wonderful progress, Chad and vbhoutex! :D Don't forget your vitamins and plenty of water.

P.S.When you reach Phase 3, check out the Carbwell Oreos if you miss that kind of cookie. They're more than merely "not bad": although not dunkable (the cookie-part texture is too fragile) these are identical in looks and really close to regular Oreos in taste -- the patented chocolatey cookies layered with the sweet and creamy white middle -- yet only 3 net carbs, 2.5 g fat, and 50 calories per cookie.

I lost 2 more pounds this past week. If I can keep up that pace I will be happy. If I can make myself get into the walking routine and my leg can handle it it would be more lbs. gone though and that is what I am still working towards.

I just now read this thread.

Great job guys! How's it going now?

David...you may not lose much each week but don't get discouraged. You're more likely to keep it off this time if it's lost at a slower pace. That shows more of a lifestyle change than just a fad diet. JMO

Keep up the great work!! I know y'all can do it! :)

Eric - We have a treadmill. I need to find the motivation to get back on it daily too! The other day the thought of swim-suit season looming ahead almost drove me to get on it. But I'm fighting a cold right now.....

Like Chad stated, once you walk consistently for a while, you do feel a surge in energy. You'd think that knowing that fact would spur me on, but it doesn't!!! It's cold in our basment, where we moved the treadmill to.

How about this - if you walk daily, I will too Eric!

I got on mine this morning! And yes I did walk 25 minutes....LOL Had two phone calls while walking.....but each time I went right back to walking.

I want that energy surge right now! Need to patient I know. It takes about 2 weeks to kick in. But at least I can attest Chad isn't crazy.....daily walking and/or jogging really does give you a lot of energy. I used to say it was better than an afternoon cup of coffee. Prior to daily walking, I would get very sleepy by 4 p.m. And need that cup of coffee or tea, to stay awake. After 2 weeks of walking, I rarely got sleepy late in the day.

Thanks Sunny!

You are welcome Miss Mary!! I find there is so much of a difference in my attitude when I work-out vs. when I don't. I handle stress a lot better! Those endorphins, you know?!!

There are so many benefits from regular exercise. Weight loss or control, energy, fighting off colds or viruses, sleeping better, handling stress more efficiently as you pointed out, keeping your heart pumping well, etc.

I think I just talked myself into doing this again. Today was my first day back on in weeks.
