I was just looking at the GFSMR and the EURO and it does look like a cold couple of day's for the Southern Plains the last couple of day's in February. What to watch is for the low forming coming out of mexico and tracking to the NE across TX on day's 9 and 10 of the GFS. Models runs have N and E Tx with a cold air mass and over running moisture that could bring some wintery precip the 24th or 25th (My B-Day is the 26th
) Of course this is all subject to change by tomorrow and it may be 80 degrees insted of 32, so let's watch the next couple of model runs and see if this pattern change holds.
The Plains are now into a winter pattern that will produce colder and snowier than average weather over the next 10-15 days for much of the area. The greatest threat of late-season freeze to deep South Texas is still at least ten days off. The southern and central Rockies are sharing in all this, too. (Coldest, snowiest pattern of winter, in relation to normal.)

Well, what's the lastest on Texas Weather for the remainder of Feb? It was mentioned in this thread and the thread from Bastardi that we might get a cold blast the last of Feb and 1st of March.
As far as any forecasting out there as of today looks like nothing is coming other than temps in the 50's and rain off and on. Sounds mild to me. Guess we better start looking forward to storm spotting and forget this cold blast HUH?
See any changes on your pretty colorful maps Capt? If not I'm going into my spring mode and pack away my long sleeves and break out my shorts.

Yes our trees are budding and we had 80 degree weather this past week. I noticed Accuweather has us colder the first week of March, but Ive never seen them right about anything. Our local mets never give us more than the 7 day forecasts so everything looks like cool and wet according to them and the NWS, although the NWS has recently admitted they are not sure about the model runs since they have been inconsistantly lately and therefore timin is all off on fronts, temps and amount of precp.
So far my fat grey Cat still has on her very furry coat and hasn't shown signs of shedding it yet. I fear that day I will have to vacuum forever when she starts. Wish I could shed pounds like she sheds fur. LOL
So if you go by the animals we might still be in for some colder weather before spring. Usually we have our maters and peppers and corn in the ground by mid March. Hope mother nature doesn't get us with a last shot of cold winter after we start planting.
