A little invest has just popped up in the W. Pacific - Invest 95W. Doesn't look very impressive on satellite imagery and it's probably not going to do anything. Even so, the W. Pacific is approaching the time when it gets more active. February is usually the least active month, and this is reflected in the data. In the last 51 years, February has played host to only 15 tropical systems. However, in about a month, towards the end of March, things will be heating up. Many powerful typhoons have formed in early April - such as Super Typhoon Sudal last year, and Super Typhoon Kujira in 2003.
The year is advancing quickly.
