I suppose it's because of the tropical season and potential overload of the system...?

We made the decision to keep sigs off because they just got out of control. Some people's sigs were bigger than the posts they were making. :-( The absence of signatures also help the performance of the board so for now they are not coming back....

I agree that the sigs got REALLY big. Especially with the political images. (I was thinking of this earlier today when I was on another forum. Posts were 85% signatures and 15% content)

I wonder, is there a way to block images from signatures?

No, well not atleast on my limited version of php I have.

But what they can do is bring signatures back. Except only for your name purpose...Nothing like your site, pics, etc but just for name purposes.

Just use
Maximum signature length
Maximum number of characters in user signatures

And put the number of characters availiable down to less than 15. That way they really cant fit {img}http://////.gif{/img} Into the signature....

Heck on paper signatures are only just that the name of the person. You dont go all fancy with all this other stuff.

Im sure bringing back those type of signatures would not be a problem because they would take up hardly any space with being limited to just 15 characters, that would not even take up a whole line of space....

Not to many peoples names are over 15 characters.

Would look like this
