At this point its going to take rain to thaw out our ground in my area, even if the temp hits 50 or higher, and the lows stayed above freezing, it won't be enough to thaw it out for a very long time unless we get the rain. This is definatily the first time in the 7yrs that I have dealt with grass that this setup has happened. Crazy stuff!! Makes my life easy though, even the tee markers are frozen in place so we don't even have to move them

Currently 42.9 degrees
Dewpoint 27.6 degrees

Current warm spot is Packwood with a temp of 59.8 degrees

Wow.

The 18Z run of the GFS has some light rain over us on Saturday!! A moist pattern is setting up FINALLY. This is just the beginning. As I predicted right around March 1st.

The current pattern looks like it will really start breaking down in next couple days. The pattern looks much more "normal" for late February by the weekend.

That means an abrupt end to overnight lows below freezing. Clouds!! Showers??

Should be above freezing 24 hours a day starting Friday for the foreseeable future. Maybe until next fall.

Maybe.

TT...The higher dew points and light winds could spell fog. Everything will be perfect for a cold soupy inversion expcept for the fact the ground is so dry. I will not bet either way on this one.

R-Dub...That is awsome that everything is so frozen up there! :D

R-Dub... I would go insane with 60 degree weather in Seattle and low 40's up there.

There is no inversion. Why does it keep happening??

We live 400 feet higher than you and it is 56 degrees at our house right now.

I TOTALLY believe your readings. I am just saying it would drive me crazy!!

Snow_Wizzard...

Still not seeing an inversion. Too much offshore flow and then too much southerly flow.

Here is the surface winds for Thursday on the latest MM5...

And like you said... no moisture to work with. It is amazingly dry out there.

Beats me TT, I have lived in this same area all my life, and its always been this way to one extent or another. I am wondering if my location being straight in line with the southern part of the straight of JUAN DE FUCA but having Whidbey and Camino Islands right there in the mix also my have something to do with my cooler micro climate.........Don't know, I have been wondering why for the last 28yrs  I would rather have the 60 degree temps right now, I would be out jetskiing as we speak, BUT it is a life saver in the summer when we are in a hot spell!!! If its in the low 90's in Marysville, its in the low 80's here!! Another plus is that the ground is so hard frozen and dry that my dogs are staying nice and clean, usually they are covered in mud most of the winter

Well its 41.9 degrees here currently as of 2:50 and still plenty of frost in the shade!

Another interesting thing TT, yesterday coming home from Wenatchee on HWY 2 there was still some snow here and there in Gold Bar from when the convergance zone hit them a few weekends ago, but yet the temp there was 54 degrees at around 2:00PM, then it dropped to about 50 when I hit Everett, 49 in Maryville, but like always when I started up the hill towards my house, the temp started the steady decline, and when I pulled in the driveway it was 43 degrees. Wierd that #1Gold bar still had snow on the ground with that temp and they are at around 1,000FT #2 we were over 10 degrees colder then a foothill community with snow still on the ground  !

But that is a part of living in this great area, the weather is extremely variable from location to location!!

There is a stage 1 Burn Ban in effect now. I thought that there was suppose to be enough wind to mix things out?

R-Dub...That is truly amazing stuff. I think it odes have something to with your being near the Strait of JDF. That normally keep Whidbey Island very cool for high temps. At the same time, you are enough inland to reap the "benefit" of some continental influence to get the cold nights also. Where I live, we are sure wracking up the cold nights. but most of the days have been pretty mild.

I would call it a blessing, if I were in your shoes. I love cold air...period!
As for the snow in Gold bar...I'll bet their dew points are rock bottom out there in combination with some really cold lows. The foothill areas have been in a truly continental climate regime for the past two weeks or so. This totally reminds me of late winter / early spring in eastern WA, when I used to live over there.

TT...The offshore surface pressure gradients go 95% dead by Thursday or so. The surface winds never become southerly. If the fog gets any kind of a start it could become a plague very quickly. The thing that could spoil an inversion would be if we get some clouds, like the 18z run is showing. Other than that, the conditions shown in most runs and the ECMWF say inversion a million times over. Warm air aloft and VERY weak offshore pressure gradients are the main ingredients needed. I am still not going to bet on it though...way too much uncertainty on way too many details. If the inversion happens this is guaranteed to be the coldest Feb in a good many years. Albeit, under very unusual circumstances.

Goood evening you all!
Anouther faboulus day today huh! Super day..weather wise. Our high made it up 53 degrees today, after a morning low of 25. Looks like another nice day on tap tomorrow with sunny skies, 850MB temps near +6C, 500MB vorticity heights of around 558DM, off shore flow....should lead to temps being in the 50`s to even low 60`s.

Weather pics

Here`s a couple pics I took of some sundogs early this morning, and a couple pics of the moon this evening. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ajc192004 ... .dir=/a066

Not sure... I suppose an inversion is possible.

But the NWS has FINALLY forecasted some nicer weather. I think frost is a thing of the past after tomorrow!!

Lows in the UPPER 30's and highs in the mid to upper 50's.

Nice.

I have had enough frost for the year. Its quite annoying. Still... the incredible weather during the day is awesome.

Thanks Randy:)

Tim...frost is not anoying! It is beauiful! A work of Art! Have you ever looked at frost UP close to see all the semeterical and pointy sharp edges it has when it forms on leafs, small twigs, and other objects? It`s a site to see for sure!
