The following below depicts current warnings and advisories for Maryland.

A winter storm warning has been hoisted for the Baltimore metropolitan area today into tonight and is effective until 1 AM Friday. A general 4-8 inches of snow is likely for north central Maryland including Baltimore and Washington DC and northern Virginia today and into tonight as well.

Maryland Counties under the warning include...

WASHINGTON MD-
CARROLL MD-
FREDERICK MD-
HARFORD MD-
NORTHERN BALTIMORE MD-
SOUTHERN BALTIMORE MD-

ANNE ARUNDEL MD-
HOWARD MD
MONTGOMERY MD-
PRINCE GEORGES MD-

This includes the DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA DC- and northern Virginia.

Meanwhile a winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 PM EST for southern Maryland for 3-5 inches of snow followed by mixed precipitation of snow, and sleet. Counties included in this advisory are

ST MARYS
CALVERT
CHARLES

A winter storm warning is in effect for Maryland's eastern shore for 4-8 inches of snow today into tonight. Counties included in Maryland's eastern shore are.

CECIL
KENT
QUEEN ANNE'S
TALBOT
CAROLINE
DORCHESTER

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the lower eastern shore for a 2-4 inch snowfall this day. Counties included are

WICOMICO
WORCHESTER
SOMERSET

Finally a snow advisory is up for Garrett County, MD for 2-4 inches of snow accumulation in lower elevations and 6 inches on the ridge tops. Snow will likely be a bit heavier east of the mountains than in Garrett County because more moisture will come in from the Atlantic east of the mountains and into Baltimore.

Will keep you postd with obs all day long!!!!

Not too shabby bud. It's 5 inches here in Essex, MD in southeast Baltimore County. I got an updated total of 3.4 inches on TV Hill in northwest Baltimore. It seems the general thinking is heaviest snow south and east of Baltimore on a line from DC, Annapolis, and Dover as well. More could add up on top of that over the next few hours as this last band comes in from the west. A 5-10 inch final snowfall total sounds more realistic in general.

No mix here either, just the heaviest snow is just to our south. Last major snowfall on Jan 22 gave us 5.8" of snow. We got 4.8" officially as of 8 pm, but it's accumulating further as I talk. We'll easily exceed 5.8 inches if this continues making this the biggest single storm snowstorm of the season.

5.2 inches of snow at 9:10 PM EST in Essex, MD. Amounts continue to climb and another band is coming in even as we speak.
