No east wind in North Bend tonight.

And we are farther away from marine air.

Should be a chilly night here. Not too bad though.

I agree with Anthony on the overall pattern. The last few days were nicer than many summer days. Starting out around 50 degrees... getting close to 70 degrees with perfect sunshine.

Below freezing in June?? You would like that??

I thought you liked summer weather.

You need to move to Barrow, Alaska.

On August 1 of last year (don't ask why I picked the date it was just random), Barrow's high was 36 after a low of 30. There was even some light snow. But I think that is still too warm for snow_wizzard:)

The only reason I would like that is because of what it's implications would be. For example...Bothell got down to 35 on July 4, 1949. We all know what happened that winter!

TT...I have not had a day start out near 50 since January. We started at 26 today.

My idea of a perfect summer day would be a low in the upper 40s, high in the upper 60s and crystal clear skies. I actually get depressed in the summer when it's muggy or cloudy. It would be interesting to experience the storms and stuff in the midwest, but that opressive gloom and heavy air would drive me crazy. In the winter, gloom is fine bacause it's cold.

What do you guys think about this idea...it gets really cold with low dew points tonight and then the marine air moves into the cold air at the surface. That could result in dramatic condensation of the moisture and create quite a nice freezing fog situation. Now that would knock everyone for a loop! Just a thought.

Kind of an interesting article in the Everett Herald today about this weather we are having right now, note how KAM from NWS blames El Nino, while a UW Met is saying that this is NOT the work of El Nino, see link.............

Anyone have some accurate statistics on March of 2002?! I know Bellingham was in the deep freeze for most of the month, but I think places south of Tacoma barely noticed anything abnormal. I know here in Everett we were on the cusp...we had some light snow/cold air...but it didn't last long and was definitely not extreme. And wasn't there two bouts of cold/snow in that month? One in the beginning of March...then one in the middle? I remember Bellingham got 14 inches from one of them. I think the most we saw was about an inch...and it occurred at the beginning of the month. Someone verify this info please!

Snowwiz you might be right about tonight, I have a feeling we will be seeing HEAVY frost in the morning, BTW we have had 15 frost delays at the golf course this month!! Since we started keeping records in 1991 we have never had that many in a single month! We also broke our record of 9 consecutive frost delays from Feb 1994, we are up to 10 in a row as of today!!!!
Truly amazing stuff!!

Anthony I believe the first round of snow in March of '02 happened around the 8th or so, we got 10-12" here at my house, low temps were in the mid 20's highs in the low 30's

Then the second round hit on the first day of spring, around the 21st we got 4" out of that one, low temps were in the upper 20's and highs were in the mid 30's. quickly warmed up after that one.

R-Dub...The guys who say this is not El Nino caused are right. The national guys have been saying that all along. The outgoing long wave raditiaon never reacted to the El Nino as it normally would. That is the key to setting up El Nino forced weather patterns.

Anthony...In my area we had some pretty cold weather and a little bit of snow in March 2002, but nothing like up north. Palmer, which is about 10 miles from me had significant snowfall. They are right up against the west slopes of the mountains, though.

I have some good pics of the March '02 snowfall, with I had a scanner so I could share them with you. That was a pretty good yr, we had a good snowfall at the end of Jan '02 as well, about 6". March was the biggie though with about 16" of total snowfall!!!!

Good evening all.:)

Taking a look at the 18z GFS...we still have a few more days of nice weather to get out and enjoy. So thats tomorrow through the weekend. 850MB temps during this time are in the +3C range, with 500MB vorticity heights of 552 to near 558DM. So surface probably tad cooler and in the mid-upper 50`s for high for rest of this week. In the longer range, 28th - 4th, a short lived and some what of a zonal flow gives us scattered to steady light showers. Then in the much longer range time frame, 5th - 24th, a huge ridge of high pressure takes a strong hold and keeps systems well away from us. But get this. On Tuesday the 8th, that`s when the ridge appears to be at the top of it`s peak and 850MB temp of +12C with 500MB heights of 576DM. So with good off shore flow and surface winds in a southerly direction...we could very well approach high temps in the mid-upper 70`s! And maybe even....dare I say...low 80`s!

Andy, did you check out my pics 8-)
Guess its you and I that have to make up for the other guys not posting pics of this awesome weather

If I`m correct Randy, you shared pics of the frost, frozen pond, and the nice blue skies over Lake Goodwin. And if those are the ones that I think you are asking me about.....then yes, I saw them. Coool pics! -- Andy

Andy...That is a very bold prediction! It might surprise some of you that I would not mind seeing something like a low 80s in early March. As you might have guessed, I have a motive for that. It just so happens that Seattle hit 81 on March 11, 1892. An absolutely, positively freakish record. The next 80+ record for the city is not until April 12th. Do any of you have a guess what kind of a winter came after the freakish 81 degrees on March 11, 1892? Clue... :D

I admit, at face value the progs do look very warm with that next ridge, but it's way too far out to tell yet.

As for tonight...cold. We are already down to 40 with a dew point of 27. Both values are lower than this time last night.

Dewpoints are much higher as a rule tonight across the Puget Sound area.

Frost is not an issue tonight.

Still in the mid 40's with dewpoints in the mid 30's. In other words... a NORMAL February evening. In fact Shelton has a dewpoint of 42 degrees!!

Marine air will keep it mild tonight.
