Radar is exploding
Both from the Southern Low and from the Great Lakes Low....looks almost like they are joining hands. This gives me some hope in Rochester, NY that we may actually see some significant accums from combined moisture, even if the coastal low tracks offshore. And I am just hoping and praying that Lake Ontario's influence will help us with more snow from a northeast fetch.

Yeah, I said that in another thread about how it's lighting up. There's going to be a lot of shoveling come Tuesday morning, I think, in a lot of areas.

I just looked at the latest surface map and it showed the low pressure just south of the Florida Panhandle. By the way, the Blizzard of 93 was located in that exact spot before moving north and east. And the Blizzard of 93 had a cold front and warm front attached to it in almost the same way this one presently does. Went back and looked at some old maps. Not that Im saying this thing is going to be anything like that storm was. Just some observations. Of course, the 93 storm didn't have a clipper storm join up with it like this one might. Many factors involved here.

The rainshield is moving more north now. A water vapor loop depicts theclassic baroclinic 'leaf' shape to the moisture and subtropical jet. Also, the water vaper loop will also show a distinct dry spot just south of the florida panhandle. As of now, everything is according to plan. The low is around 1003 mb, which is 5 mb stronger than the NAM's depiction. However, it is moving ENE so no surprises yet.

You know we have gotten screwed all year here in Raleigh so I guess this will just continue the trend of the last couple of years. Last year everyone west of here saw a 12 inch storm and this year so far the snow has been to the NE of here. And now west of here will get it again apparently. Oh well I guess it will be cool to see Fishel in the fountain freezing his ass off tomorrow afternoon.
