Your 18 inch zone will more likely be a 2-4 inch zone based on latest GFS...storm too close to the coast, WILL wrap significant warm air, resulting in changeover to sleet and rain well before major snow accumulations can take plane

Was the shift really that great? It didn't seem that way to me.

a 30-50 mile shift to the west will make a huge difference in snowfall amounts; looks to me like you will need to be about 100 miles inland to see heavy snow...I'm more convinced than ever that it will be mostly rain in I95 corridor

Like I said before, the west is very underdone. There are winter storm warnings all throughout western PA/central NY.

Other than that, looks good.

Your not convinced your NUTS! ALL and i repeat ALL of local mets are calling for 10-15 inches. So are you a meteorologist? No you are just some doubtful person who has no faith.

Yea man u are really nuts. I just looked over the gfs and it is fine. Local met updated like 10 minutes ago on GFS and said it calls for 7-15 for philly. Do you have an image that can show your so called point?

John,

12z and 18z GFS runs were nearly identical. There was no dramatic shift to the west. Perhaps an incorrect comparison had been made between the 18z NAM vs. the 12z GFS?

Thats what i thought before EXTONPA came out of nowhere and said all rain. So is he right don? Im so confused right now because all of the mets here were saying between 8-15 inches then exton said all rain. What is going on?

EXTONPA...he in my mind and everyone else at Sterling, VA's office of NWS...who are looking over my shoulder thinks he is out of his mind. He is entitled to his opinion but I think he is nowhere near right.

Not that I'm greedy for snow...but I sure do wish that we were going to get 10 to 30 inches instead of just 1 to 3!

Ahh, so then what's your prediction for the DC area?? Or do you think that the current totals of 6 -10 are on target?

I would love to get about 3 feet....but I cannot figure out where the cold air is going to come from with the low passing so close to the coast....anyhow, I really hope I'm wrong
