So how did I do?

#1 Postby EXTONPA » Mon Feb 28, 2005 8:23 pm

Here's what I posted early last night:
1-3 Baltimore, Philly, Newark, Providence
2-4 West Chester PA, Allentown, Hartford, Andover Mass
4-8 Reading PA, Albany NY, Greenfield MA, Concord NH

As of 8:15, there is about 3 inches in West CHester PA, will probably get about 4 total. I'm not sure what the official Philly total will be, but probably 3-5 inches. I don't know what Baltimore has right now.

We will have to see about the areas to the North, but overall, my forcast was pretty good. I missed on Jersey, which will end up with more snow than I thought. I blew the doors off of the NWS, that's for sure!

your forecast was right but for the wrong reasons (here in NW DC there was no rain that i noticed).. HOWEVER you were a lot closer than anyone else was... lol @ the 6-12" forecast. we're sitting with about 2" here on grass, slightly under 1" on roads/sidewalks but the trees look as if they have 4-5" on them..Snow still falling, so I guess its not over yet.

there were aspects of my forcast that were off; but I did base it on the fact that it was a warm storm, which was running into a cool, but not frigid air mass; taken together, snow was restricted a lot....

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. I guess it pays to go against the grain sometimes doesn't it? Either way, I have around half a foot here in Winchester and the snow keeps falling. :D

looking at the radar, and the energy yet to move through in the ohio valley, which seems to be getting more vigorous, I nervous I spoke too soon...anyhow, I love the debate and don't mind the criticism; this is what makes the board fun!

I'm sorry I doubted you exton, but you were off with jersey, you said little if any snow here in northcentral new jersey and we already have about 5 inches with hours of snowfall to come. The secondary low won't effect me too much, mostly PA and NY, If the coastal were to energize with the midwest low, than it would have been a potential monster which is what was previously thought days away. I hope this is it.

This has been an more active winter than I thought for my area, already 10-12 inches above average snowfall. That's 3 years straight of above to way above average snowfall.

Looks like it's filling in courtesy of the second disturbance coming in from the west. Looks like more snow even overnight for DC/Baltimore. Definitely not done yet.

Still snowing and the radar isn't showing it either. I can't even trust the radar now! (1:24 am)

Our total here in Essex, MD is 6 inches. It's so gorgeous out here this morning with the snow sticking onto trees. Another inch or two and we could have potentially seen downed tree limbs and powerlines, hence power outages. We just had enough snow to not cause a major impact to the power grids this morning.

I'm taking pictures as I speak and I'll share those with you folks later this afternoon. Take care.

You did horribly exton. I got 8 inches here in king of prussia and you were predicting all rain for philadelphia. You were WRONG for me and i told you that you would be WRONG last night but you were so confident that you would be right.

As of 7:00 this morning there was 7" on the ground here and still snowing lightly. We probably lost at least an inch of accumulation because a lot of it melted yesterday before it started to stick.

School cancelled, took the day off work.

I've seen reports of up to 11" in some places in VA and WV. Still some to come from the clipper. It looks like you were right in bringing down the totals, but that you brought them down too much in some areas. If you were talking just about the noreaster as a seperate system then well you did ok, but it is difficult to talk about the two systems totally seperately.

EXTONPA,

There's little doubt that you deserve credit for your amounts for some of the cities. However, in your posts, you had been referring to the storm's tracking to the west (it went too far to the east) and this tended to take away from the good job you did.

I certainly give you credit for your good estimates, as credit should be given where credit is due.
