Worldwide Tropical Update: 12 March 2005

The Storm2K Worldwide Tropical Update for 12 March 2005 at 04Z.

Severe Tropical Cyclone Ingrid (08U/22P) (12/00Z)
Position: 11.6S 135.9E (80 mi ENE of Maningrida, Australia)
Movement: WNW at 10 mph
Winds: 145 mph
Pressure: 938 mb / 27.70"
Dvorak Est: T7.0/7.0

Ingrid is continuing to scrap along the northern coast of the Northern Territory as the system deepens further under very warm water temperatures (31-32C / 88-90F). Watches and warnings have been posted for parts of Queensland and the Northern Territory – for storm information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local weather office.

Currently, the S2K Worldwide Tropical Update’s Alert Page has been updated for TC Ingrid. You can get up-to-date information on Ingrid such as observations, webcams, tracking charts, satellite, etc. from the alert page. Of course, if you have any ideas of additional data that you'd like to see on the alert page, please pass them along to me. Thanks!

Severe Tropical Cyclone Willy (09U/23S) (12/04Z)
Position: 19.1S 110.6E (300 mi NW of Exmouth, Australia)
Movement: SW at 8 mph
Winds: 100 mph
Pressure: 960 mb / 28.35"
Dvorak Est: T4.0/5.0

Willy maintains its intensity has is parallels along the Western Australian Coast. At this time, landfall along Western Australia is not expected, but Willy will be monitored.

Tropical Low Noname (xxx/99W) (12/00Z)
Position: 6.4N 150.8E (105 mi WSW of Chuuk, Micronesia)
Movement: ***
Winds: 15 mph
Pressure: 1006 mb / 29.71"
Dvorak Est: Too weak

Weak circulation is forming with this low. Model guidance suggests some possible development and the overall conditions associated with 99W is improving.

Just to make note here: I've adjusted the alert page to focus on Ingrid and her track across the northern portion of the Northern Territory.
