well good luck with that, how much snow have you had this season, for us new england has been hogging all the snow especially northern and northeastern new england.

the northern plains was much colder in late november dec, and jan. then the north east and the plains were colder then the southern ne, this has been a typical winter.its always much colder in the plains until mid feb then the northeast cools down more with alberta clippers but thats canadien air. its not arctic. this is a typical winter no the northeast hasnt been hogging all the snow krysof! theres just no news coverage in the plains i just got came back from minnesota to north texas and mid-november and early dec. was brutal and snowy up there in minnesota. how much snow is on the ground right now in phiily or d.c. right now 0 none and its in the 50s and mid 40s in n.y.c. and its in the single digits and teens in minnesota.................. the loudmouth northeasterners always think everystorm is a huge noreaster ive lived up there i know what its like!!! northern plains is much more brutal......

Of course I realize it's headed in our direction possibly. Still that was exciting to see for this time of year. Hope it pans out.

Well I live in Minnesota...no its not brutal single digits feel good if you ask me. But this year has sucked snowfall and any kind of precip. Sure we get cold but we arnt getting the moisture to get snow/ rain or anything else. Its been sooooo dry this year only 29 inches of snow..the normal by now is about 45 inches. Bring on the dust storms!! :grrr:

Call it anotherBust, Looks like it will not surge north at all, keeping again just a rainstorm system at only affects the gulf coastal regions and southern tennessee valley. Face it snows over for the midwest, at least for St. Louis, MO. the Bad news is that there will be no interesting WX for St. Louis for at least another month and boy do I hate sunshine. More of the vampiric type here. Looks like I'll be misrable the next 4 weeks, with a minor drough beginning. April may bring Severe Thunderstorms back into the picture, but at that point I don't care what the precipation is as long as it blocks out that darn sun. I'm not even trusting next weekend's storm, because at this point I don't care what the dang models are saying because I know it will go north or south of me, missing me of course!

Yep, Craig from Omaha is out on his posting spurge here and at that one other site that starts with a "W".

I think he is like 14 or 15 years old, so I will say this: Sorry, Craig, no major snow expected for the Omaha area through the next week (and probably beyond), so hit them books hard and study, because you are going to school! :roll:

ssom04 - enjoy your 12-18" and potential thundersnow out of this storm...I'd like to say I'm jealous, but I'm ready for 70 degrees and thunderstorms w/ rain!

Here in Madison, we've had about 4" overnight, and I'm expecting another 3-5" tomorrow night.

Andy - well you did move North ya know... :-)

Down here, winter has finally eased it's grip. Highs are in the 50s now. Even though I love winter, I guess I'm ready to greet Spring. Have to start that whole yardwork phase soon too! I tripped over the snowblower the other day in the garage, thinking this should just be put away now. But the minute I put it away, we'll get slammed.

But hey I did run the mower in for a tuneup. So if these warmer temps remain, I'll be set for that first lawn mowing. But usually having it tuned up brings on more snow. Didn't work this time....

Hang in there Andy - it will warm up sometimes up there. Watch you have a very hot summer, after such a long winter...

I know, I know. In all honesty this snow has been kinda fun, and I can wait a few more weeks for 60 degree weather.

I have to admit, the 4-5" around here was absolutely beautiful around here when I got off of work at midnight. Surprisingly, there were a ton of people out and about celebrating St. Patty's day - hope everyone made it home safely. Alcohol and icy roads aren't a good mix.

In the meantime, it looks like the Twin Cities NWS office has upped portions of south-central and south-eastern MN to an 18-24" total snowfall. Parts of SE MN and far west-central WI have seen 12-14" already with a few reports of thunder as well. This storm has received very little attention from many media outlets - for instance, it's been relatively obvious that a 12"+ snow would come from this storm, yet Accuweather is still showing 3-6". Joe Bastardi and none of the other columnists there made no mention of anything more than 6, but as usual they tend to focus on the Northeast. Around here, everyone has been playing catch up as well - not sure why as the models have been consistent on showing a stripe of very heavy snow for days now. Oh well.

Well I am on the southern edge of this system. I'm forecasted to have 5-9 inches by all is said and done. RIght now I am just around 4 inches, but 2 of those have came in the last 45 min!! Some snow reports have came in of nearly a foot and a half in southwestern/southcetnral MN. jackson, Mn had a foot of snow this morning and have moderate snow for the last 5 hours as well! This is causing some major travel problems as roads up here are terrible!!

Rochester, MN is approaching their all time 24-hr snowfall record set back in the mid-80's. They should easily exceed it by the time this storm wraps up....perhaps by as much as 6"!!
