The trip is around 48 hours away from now... I can't believe it... Way to quickly. I'll be there from 5 Mar to 19 Mar... Birthday party in between!

I had a lovely last weekend. I found out that my desert camouflage (DCU's) has arrived. Not only has arrived, it was divided out (and that was my job over the weekend... dividing out the clothing) Oh Joy.

I'm not on the alternate list anymore, but this thing from Hawaii may have to be cancelled if I get my orders. Right now, I have no time or money to fly over to Hawaii to find a place and who knows... it may take some time for me to find a place. I can't get a hold of my friend over there to get his address. I have to talk to the captain on Saturday to have my name put back on the list...nothing is falling right with the Hawaii situation. I feel like I'm cheating the deployment for not accepting the fact that I'm practically being deployed with everyone else. My name was called and I'm not accepting the responsibility. If you were wondering...we have a 14 month deployment with a possible extension.

There is only 3 guys left on the alternate list and if there is a lady that comes off the deployment guess who's going... ME!  :) The thing with that is I have received training as if I was deploying... I don't think the commander wants a fully trained non-deployer sitting around base. That is a waste of tax-payer money and training.

From what I understand, we are staying in Milwaukee for approx 3 weeks... I'll keep studying via email. My professors have acknowledged the situation and will do anything to get me out of campus. (yeah!) However, I will not be able to walk on the stage to accept my college diploma. Bummer! I've been waiting 4 1/2 years for that. But, that comes with the territory.

Cross your fingers. I'll have mine crossed.

I'm waiting for a warm up... who is hogging the warmer temperatures??? Pretty please with a cherry on top. :) :)

I'll drink some beer for people who would like me to. For those that had a rough week (I'm not naming names)

Well here I am. Been an okay weekend. But it could have been somewhat better.

I made one mistake of the heart this weekend when I went to the mall, thinking I could handle the barrage of memories. Suffice to say, I couldn't. :( But the rest of the weekend was okay. Won $50 at a blackjack tournament at my house this weekend. My uncle Jeff was the winner. But we'll have more. And it's actually not about the money for me...it's just about having fun and dad wants to do it again. :)

Slight risk of severe today...but right now its sunny and 57 already at 11am!

Later everyone.

Hey - guess what?

Winter's back!!! Temps were in the upper 50s yesterday, breezy and mild. Rain moved in later and overnight. Which has now changed to light flurries since that cold front came slamming thru - it's currently 27. Will only top 33 today.

Here's the latest teen fashion craze up here - wearing flip flops, even if it's cold enough to wear winter coats and gloves. Yes I will be sitting outside my girl's HS waiting for one to come out from an after school club or meeting. Out will walk at least one girl with a winter coat and gloves on, jeans, coat all zipped up. But bare feet! Of course being the freeze cat that I am, my eyes always travel down to these girls' FEET - are they just nutz I tell ya? LOL

So one day last week, when it was rather chilly, out the door Nina went, dressed the same way, sans the gloves. Last night I prepared her as she was finishing up her laundry - wear warm clothes the rest of the week. Why, groan.....? Winter temps all weeklong. She said she'll just see about THAT and will open the front door, checking herself before trusting the news updates or wx forecasts. Sounds like her dad huh?

Meanwhile, I'll be back to my lightweight thermals all week, warm sox, cords, sweaters.....LOL

Quite the contrast! What would she do if we lived up north? LOL

Well, enough about that. You hang in there Jeremy! Enjoy your spring break this week.

I'm doing the best I can Mary. Yes quite a contrast, yesterday I could wear a light jacket, and at times didn't really need that. Today, if I go out, I'll be somewhat bundled up.

Yesterday a very nice mild 73F at the RDU Int'l. Airport!! :D Today...this morning temps in the 50s early and then falling into the 40s this afternoon with 20s tonight!!! :) Had some thunder and moderate to at times heavy rain between 8 and 9 am...did see at least one flash of lightning!
A severe t-storm watch expired earlier from an original time slot of 1 pm and we had a severe t-storm warning until 10 am.

Some storm reports from Wake County:

Local Storm Report

03/08/2005 0941 am

Garner, Wake County.

Hail 0.75 inch, reported by trained spotter.

03/08/2005 0941 am

Knightdale, Wake County.

Thunderstorm wind gust, reported by trained spotter.

Tree branches/large limbs down.

03/08/2005 0953 am

Wendell, Wake County.

Hail 0.25 inch, reported by trained spotter.

Small hail covered ground on turnpseed Road.

03/08/2005 0940 am

Fuquay-Varina, Wake County.

Thunderstorm wind damage, reported by law enforcement.

Damage to homes in Fairview area, north of Fuquay Varina.
Widespread reports of trees down and power outages.

03/08/2005 0940 am

Cary, Wake County.

Thunderstorm wind damage, reported by law enforcement.

Utility building blown away. Large tree down on 1010 Road.

I found on the SPC site that 2 people were injured when a barn blew down in Chatham County NC about 2 to 3 counties away from Wake County! :(

Also, around 40,000 chickens killed after 2 buildings housing them blew apart in Cumberland County NC! :(

Damage seems to have been the result of straight-line or downburst winds over all and there was pea-sized hail reported, too, in some areas...including here in north Raleigh had some pea hail but no wind damage fortunately!! Noon news showed some footage of pea hail accumulation in neighboring Durham County!

On a lighter note...Mary, shouldn't your family know by now to listen and pay heed to their resident weatherwoman?? :D

Jeremy, have fun on your spring break, Wxbuddy!! :D

Still on soft foods like milkshakes, yogurt and applesauce during these 24 hours since having a molar pulled yesterday afternoon and should be able to eat some more solid foods by this evening at supper...still have to take it easy with that socket though! :)

Have a Terrific Tuesday, S2KBuddies! :D

Don't I wish!!! They look upon my wx interests as a hobby that's possibly a bit too important to me. Sometimes they ask me for wx updates but usually rely upon the windows for what's actually happening!!! LOL

Well, I made to Germany.. long plane flight. Working 12 hour days... I can't see anything after work because everything closes at 6pm. 12 hour nights would have been 1000% better, but oh well... I can't be choosy. I'm possibly going to Paris on my days off Friday night- into Saturday night... taking the train. Sunday might be a Rhine river cruise... Be back home on 20 Mar...

Enjoy yourself.

Well, guess what folks - I felt sorry for Eric on his dental pain thread and prayed for him. Stating it's been a long time since I had dental trouble, knock on wood. I didn't literally find some wood to knock on so I jinxed myself! I have several crowns and one has been feeling loose lately. Just when I chew gum. It has give to it. So I've stopped chewing gum but last night it started giving me fits. Now it feels really loose and wouldn't you know, we have Ortho, piano/violin lessons and other committments all afternoon. So I'm hoping to baby this until tomorrow. Dang!!! At first I thought I was just too vigurous when flossing. Now it is loose. I'm just hoping it's a very simple fix - the glue or cement needs replacing.

So......can you all just say a small prayer this isn't more than that? I've had the 'more' bit a number of times and once my bill was $1400 (decayed tooth, crown, etc.). I'm thinking since this tooth has a crown, it just HAS to be loose!

On top of this I've been having teenis elbow flare up ever since I chipped tons of ice on our driveway and shoveled snow. This was about 6 to 8 weeks ago and it's still giving me fits!

It is so much fun to get old - not!!!! LOL

Thanks everyone....

Mary,

Prayers and warm thoughts are sent your way, Wxbuddy, that you'll be able to get that tooth looked at and taken of tomorrow and that elbow starts feeling much better!

((((HUG))))

Thanks Eric - somedays I do feel like I'm falling apart but then again, I think of people like my brother-in-law struggling each day with his disability from a stroke or what VBHoutex/David's family is going thru right now (facing the end of his dear FIL's life), and what's a loose tooth or stiff elbow? Not much in the big picture. But I do appreciate the prayers!!! With the dental problem - I usually go into anything like this praying it's an easy, inexpensive fix!!! Isn't that awful? But usually our dental bills are sky-high and we've never had dental insurance - what's that? he he

Pojo - hope ya get that foot massage.....hope your BD was a happy one.

Well, the nasty stomach/intestinal flu bug going around hit our family tonight. One minute Laura was fine, the next very sick in bed. Asking for the barf bucket (sorry but we keep an old yellow tupperware bowl for just this purpose!). I was hoping she'd fall asleep and never get sick. No such luck! Won't go into details but she's been in the bathroom off and on since for 3 hours now. Very pale, shaky, tired.

Then I remembered she wanted 2 toaster streudel's for breakfast this morning. We were trying a new flavor - cream cheese. But right before she left for school I was putting dirty dishes away and saw one wasn't touched. So I took a bite to see if it was good.....that's when Laura said - hey I licked the icing off of that! At the time we both laughed - she said oh I'm not sick....you're safe mom.

Just please say a quick prayer I don't catch this b/c as some of you know, any intestinal flu bug going around will work overtime on my wacky GI tract. I'm actually freaking out about the possibilities.....of course my family is saying worry about it when you get sick....I said well make sure you keep that IV nearby I'll need (kidding around, LOL).

Well, anyways, we're homebound until she's feeling better. Hopefully she'll get sleep and so will I!

All I have to say is this comes on very fast. I'm just glad she was home!

Udpate - we now suspect Laura had food poisoning. We carried out dinner from Bob Evans last night. She ate 2 buttermilk pancakes, scrambled eggs and a few bites of a chocolate cake dessert she had to have. We've now thrown away any leftovers from her dinner/dessert. And I gave the Hope pieces from her uneaten pancakes (she was saving one whole one for breakfast today, it got pitched). Dog's okay. So now we think it could have been the eggs or dessert?

All in all, she wasn't sick for as long as I remember for stomach flu bugs. But she felt crummy just the same. We all got sleep too, which doesn't happen when you have the flu.

Well, once again I'm just so glad we were all home and not traveling or she was at school.

Happy belated Birthday Shannon :O). I hope you ended up celebrating big and having a great day. My friend and her husband were stationed in Germany for a while and really loved it there....but she said when they went into a bar, they gave you a drink card, and then all night long when you order a drink, they punch your card and you can add up a pretty large drink bill before you know it...she said you paid on the way out...not sure if thats how it is everywhere there, but thought I'd give ya a heads up just in case! :O)

Hi Mary....hope everyone is feeling well in your house...having a sick household is no fun!

I'm afraid we've been hogging the warm temps...guilty! Its got to be spring already....the weather is crisp in the morning, hot in the afternoon, and sweater wx at night...perfect if you ask me!

We're beginning two major home projects...a complete landscape of the exterior, mainly the slope in the backyard, adding palms and such to the front for a better curb appeal, and I'm interviewing Interior Designers today and tomorrow to redo the inside of the house...basically adding color to these all bright white walls...we're looking forward to the end result, though I know our lives will be turned upside down for a while while the work is being done...

We leave for our 8 Night Mexican Riviera cruise in just 2 weeks from today! YEAH........ You can imagine how excited we are....we absolutely need this romantic trip for 2! Our kids are flying to FLA to visit my grandmother and mother for 2 weeks, so they are excited for their trip as well...I'll be asking for prayers for safe flights for them shortly....lol Our cruise is nice, because its out of Los Angeles...so we have no flights connected with this one. The same day the kids fly out, Brian's brother and family fly into LAX for a weeks visit, which we'll miss , bc we leave the following day...bad timing, but they get the use of our house and get to puppy sit! Yes I said puppy!

Last week we got a new Lhasa Apso puppy, little girl named Ju Ju Bee....shes just darling! She has her own puppy purse, and we take her absolutely everywhere we go...she loves to shop! She wears bows in her hair, has a pretty little pink dress, rhinestones around her neck...jewlery on order... you get the picture...shes spoiled rotten, and absolutely deserves to be! I can't tell you how sweet she is, and how pretty!

Well, thats about it for news from So Cal...great weather, great family, great friends, great adventures...every day is an even better day! :O)

Have a wonderful week all!

Fur - enjoy your cruise! And that little puppy...thanks for the pic you sent. She is so cute! Love the name too....

We got over that bout with sickness over the weekend. One minute we thought sudden intestinal flu. Then mild food poisoning, then back to the flu when Nina got it. Then 2 days later I felt quessy. All in all, Laura had it the worst but it only lasted a mere 12 hours! She kept asking for real food but I had her on mild food for a while there, b/c we didn't know what was going to happen. After it was all over, we said if that's the flu that's going around, that was easy to recover from. Still, we don't really know what it was. But we did carry out a meal from Bob Evans, 2 hours before it hit. Odd (and this restaurant is very clean!)....

Oh well, another week has now started....now it's Hump Day. Big TV night....we have Survivor, Amercian Dreams, King of Queens, Yes Dear and Wife Swap! LOL We'll record a few.....

Have a nice day all.

Well...I had to do some more thinking this weekend. And this break isn't working out. There's too many memories. I'd have to get outta town entirely which won't happen until early June. And I don't think any relationship with her is going to work. :( I'm going to have to break off the friendship entirely. :( After today I won't be around at all until Sunday or Monday while I start to rebuild my life.

Jeremy - I feel for you. A broken heart takes so much time to heal. Having the person that broke your heart around still, hurts more. And adds healing time. Distancing yourself is always a good idea. Even if you can't physically, just mentally. Next time you see her, smile and pretend you're over your relationship. Even if you're not. Sometimes just moving in that direction helps heal your heart. Hang in there....your hurt will ease up but it will take time.

Well, folks I'm about to do it - apply for a part-time job in my area. I'm about to mail my resume and cover letter off in mere minutes. Scary stuff considering I'm not exactly the healthiest person on the planet but I'm willing to at least try entering the working world again. First time in 20 years too! Of course my dream was to work at home, that hasn't worked out well, legit jobs at homes are scams I've learned. Unless you once worked in an office setting and your boss permits you to work at home. I've been hoping the perfect job would plop into my lap. Didn't happen! This past Sunday an ad appeared in the paper for a part-time job in my area, working in a doctor's office. The entire ad is exactly what I'm looking for if I must return to work. So wish me luck. At the very least it prompted me to get my resume in order. So if this job is taken, another might come along. And I'll be ready.....

How about when your heart is broken because she doesn't care enough to call??? Because that's what's happened. I'm hurt and angry and I could care less what the heck she does from this point on. Because she just showed me that she don't give a damn about me and never did probably. I have nothing left anymore. I guess I made the right decision, because she sure as hell don't care.

Sorry mods for the language but I'm EXTREMELY upset.

Jeremy - she does NOT deserve you. She tossed away a great guy, remember that. And maybe she wasn't ready for a serious relationship either. But either way, it's her loss, from my point of view. In time you will meet someone who can appreciate you and your wonderful qualities for all they are. Just keep talking to us and we'll help get you over her.
