I guess we didn't land on the moon either, give the conspiracy theory a rest. If you were a resident of south Florida and didn't know Andrew was coming then you must have been in a coma....MGC

Must agree with you here. I don't live anywhere near Miami or S. FL to say the least and I was up watching it come in on the internet.

Agree MGC. And I was watching all of what was going on in Florida very far away from Puerto Rico.

I remember staying up all night watching the coverage safely from CIncinnati. It was no surprise.

No chance...There would still be Coasties around that would have taken part in something like that...Our service is smaller than the NYPD and news like that would travel fast and, over time, the truth would eventually come out.

Looking at the bigger picture, that would mean there would be 1,500 Next-of-Kin notifications. Let's say I was a conspiracy nut and I swore 'til I was blue in the face the CG was keeping it quiet...how about the family members, all 1,500 of them? Morgue officials? Body identification? People who weren't sure of the where-abouts of family members, and were "ruling out possibilities?" Red Cross workers? Local Civil Defense? etc., etc...

Besides...Search and Rescue case files are public record, feel free to research...and also, falsifying or "gun-decking" an official record is a crime...

Maybe they were counting fish?!?!...storm surges wreak havoc on near-coastal, shallow water species...

I have difficulty comprehending that 1,500 could die in the US from a hurricane especially in this day of age. That would be the deadliest US hurricane since 1928 (Lake Okeechobee) if It were true.

Thanks TropWX...I couldn't remember the date of that one...Wasn't that the storm where the lake's water built up on the northern bank before spilling over and drowning those who didn't evacuate?

That same hurricane in 1928 caused over 300 deaths in Puerto Rico as a cat 5.

Ironically, one could guess that I'm one of the few here who DIDN'T pay much attention to Andrew as it came in towards FL. Reason? We had our OWN storm to worry about-Tropical Storm Lester which entered the US from Mexico (the ultimate illegal) about 4 hours before Andrew hit FL thus becoming the first named storm of 1992 to hit the US. Though not on a par with Andrew, Lester nevertheless gave us a working over plus knocking out power as many trees came down.

One interesting note about Lester. NHC operationally killed it off so they could focus entirely on Andrew.

Glad I wasn't in the field then, would have been probably 5 consecutive days without sleep

Their final track has Lester at 35kt and 999mb at 06Z on the 24th at the same time some of the mesonet stations at FHU were reporting 15 minute winds of over 40kt with gusts of 70-80mph in the area and a pressure of 997mb at FHU 20 miles from the center.

I read that story and think it is all a lie. Just trying to get attention. There is no way 1,500 people died during Andrew. It would of been all over the news. There is no way they could of kept that a secret. And if you lived anywhere in South Florida, you had to know Andrew was coming. Unless you were in a deep coma. And if you did not take the neccessary precautions, then you must of wanted to commit suicide or something.

I suspect there were many strange things after Andrew. Were there uncounter bodies, wouldn't suprise me. West of Homestead were many run down trailer parks full of illegal workers. I saw one where there were many destroyed trailers and the miltiary had the entry road blocked, armed soldiers on guard (the ones that carried ammo) and the only entry road had a check point (with a sign that said CHECKPOINT HIPSHOOT). I tried to ask directions and was told to get lost. Seemed to me there was lots for the military to do besides guarding a rural trailer park. Is this proof, NO, but it was strange.

For the sequel of B.S., check out the "Hurricane Charley Coverup" eyewitness accounts below (compiled by the same author as the Hurricane Andrew POS):

Same Ole Stuff

#57 Postby Downdraft » Wed Mar 23, 2005 11:31 am

Some continue to blame the NHC for "forecasting errors." Since when did predicting hurricanes become an exact science. The NHC has for years consistently warned against intensity forecast predictions. Seems to me it's the responsibility of the people in the warned areas to stay safe not the NHC's responsibility to hold their hands. :grr:

It is funny to see people who live in a place where they KNOW they're in danger of falling in the path of hurricanes blaming the NHC for not predicting it closely enough. I thought they did pretty well in 2004. It's not as though hurricanes ride on rails.

I've heard that in Charley from a friend of mine at RSMAS who has family in the affected area that the body count was higher than 10 (though nowhere near the number that the POS author is writing). Some undocumented could not be identified; thus, they are not officially dead. That being sadi, there may have been 50-60 dead from Charley, far below the BS reports.

What you can do to get a mroe realistic number is to maybe multiple the official reports by 2, just to account for the "missing" You'll still end up well below the BS though
