I know of a handful of other religions that could help, but I know of just One Being who could do it. :)

The blood issue is a hard for me to disuss, even now. My father, who was a Witness, was a commercial artist. He died from a benzene induced leukemia. Blood transfusions would have prolonged his life, though not saved it. He went into the hospital shortly after Thanksgiving in 1992. They tried to give him a transfusion but he refused. He went back home on Dec 11 and died on Dec. 14. I was taking care of him. It was really hard because had it been up to me he would have received the blood, but it wasn't. It was his wishes, and we, my siblings and I had to respect them. He had a living will. Then when my mom got cancer, the last year she had it she went back to the JW's and signed a "no blood" paper. The blood issue didn't really matter in her case. She fell and broke her hip about 3 months before she died and rapidly went down hill. She had a living will and refused artificial means to keep her alive, including a feeding tube. Now my sister, who has the same cancer (stage 4) is studying with the Witnesses. So far she isn't refusing blood yet, if needed, but that could change. My brother, who is a lifelong Witness got disfellowshipped after some tough times and is being shunned right now and trying to get reinstated. I know what that feels like as I was shunned at age 16. But I found out there's a whole 'nother world out there that is much more open-minded.

I know I have already posted in this thread, but the one important thing I am reading is that the majority of people believe in God.

I would like to say to all of you, please don't let the devil's work at "politics" in the church you were in keep you away, find one you like and go and worship the Lord. There are so many different churches in all communities it should be easy to find one where you fit. Here in our town we have a church that is nameed "Church On The Rock". This church has grown so much that they now have a service on Saturday night and three on Sunday and this is a non-denominational church. Remember he died for all our sins and we celebrate his Rising this Sunday!

Geesh, I sound like a Baptist again, old lessons never get forgotten :)

Hey Tazzy, check your email, I sent you one in regards to the JW.....very INTERESTING to say the VERY least!

Mary, what a GREAT POST, AWESOME!! I went to a funeral not too long ago, a Catholic funeral. The Father did most of the service in Latin......at the very end of the service, he told everyone that they were welcome to come worship with them at this church and if we choose not to, at least go SOMEWHERE to worship, I thought, How KEWL is THAT?!?!?!

The church politics thing, you hit the nail on the HEAD....we attended a small Baptist church for YEARS, some PEOPLE *edit* moved here from CALIFORNIA and PUSHED the pastor out and took OVER the church :grr: THAT turned ME off from church for about a YEAR, then the Lord started pulling on my heart strings to return.......we DID NOT return to THAT church however, it breaks my heart to see these people in the store, they keep asking us "WHen are you coming BACK?" I told them "When HADES freezes over!" REALLY, I truly said that........you shoulda seen the LOOK on their FACES! It was a KODAK moment!

It's encouraging to see that other people have had their ups and downs and have kept their faith. Sometimes it's easy to focus on our own issues and forget that he's a big God and like a father is always eager for us to return. I think about how I'd be after one of my own sons did something really rebellious or stupid. I'd always have open arms for him after he realized his error and wished to return. I have to consider myself to be the wayward son!

Bless you all!

My poor little congregation is on pins and needles; we lost about 1/3 of our church family over the last year...most over the House of Bishops ordaining a gay bishop (in violation of canon law), and three who have passed on.

As a result, we face having our church closed UNLESS we can bring the membership from about 30 to 140 over the next few months. Due to the Episcopal Church's stance, we don't stand a chance of evangelizing in "Bible Belt Buckle" Sikeston.

But, will I ever change churches? NO...even if I stand alone, SOMEONE has to be the "salt and light", right?

I believe in Mithras, the unconquerable sun. Sol invictus. With my whole soul I believe in the victory of light over darkness, and truth over falsehood.

Agnostic here. While I do look for the little things in life and try to see personal evidence of a higher conscious spirit, I haven't seen it yet.

For personal reasons, I am not religious.

However, I respect all religions.

Basically, I see myself as a leaf on a stream. I go where the current takes me.

I also believe in love. Love is something that is needed in the world.
