http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/04/ ... index.html

Wow this is a big fish because he was the most close person to Saddam in the regime so he is now in US custody and the cards are falling like flys but where is Saddam dead or alive is the pending question and where is the WMD.

These 55 Most Wanted Iraqi's are indeed being caught rather quickly. I don't think we were expected to get them this fast.

He turned himself in. He was an oddity in Saddam's inner circle being a Christian rather than Muslim.

Tariq Aziz, although he was the "poster boy" on media everywhere and a major apologist/point of contact with Dr. Hans Blix, wasn't really that big of a catch compared to some others we want to "have a nice, quiet discussion with". Ditto for Mohammed al-Sayaf, the Iraqi Disinformation Minister, although we could all use a laugh.

Qusay, Uday, Saddam Hussein al-Tikriti himself...THOSE would be "big catches".

I can wait.

Aziz is an interesting study; he had to 'disown' his son because it ticked off Saddam that his son was 'intruding' on his own son's (Uday's) 'businesses' of sugar and other commodoties. It seems that Saddam and his inner circle of select family & friends controlled MOST of the business interests in the country and made lots of coinage. Anyone who attempted to challenge or become a competitor either ended up an enemy or dead. Many families were split up due to regime demands and the more we learn about this creep, the more astounding the revelations. He's still there somewhere...

I mentioned in another thread last week concerning businesses In Iraq, being controlled by the Ba'ath Party, which in turn,is Saddam.
This is no surprize. It's a page taken out of the Casa Nostra of Sicily.
Protection, shakedowns, loan sharking,extortion,threats...and yes the 'disappearnce' of a Biz owner that may have had 'issues' with the bagmen,or 'missed' a payment.Family members, threatened, kidnapped, followed, wire taps..the whole nine paranoid yards.Saddam trusts no one.
He used to make clear his 'distaste'with members of the Baghdad 40,by showing film clips from his Fav movie:'Godfather'..and other Goombah Genre ultraviolent flicks like 'Goodfellas'and 'Capone'.He would play Sinatra tunes at 4am in the Palace du Jour, just to 'remind' them.Interesting how the allure of Mafioso Manifestations turned him on.
Utter control. He 'offed' his Son In Law..when he supposedly turned to the CIA.His sons were also in the Strip Club Biz,gambling, drugs, etc. Real nice for a leader that told his fellow Iraqis he was a 'Devout' religious man.
He even had the 'Holy Man' kiss ordered to be given him on reception.
Meglamania, paranoia, sadism, and twisted...he enjoyed the role of 'Gentleman Psychopath'...actually,he was/is a Sociopath...in utter denial of his insanity.
One 'inside the circle' member, disagreed with his handling of the Kurd massacre post 1991,saying it made the Baa'ath party a 'Target' for possible UN Action at a dinner meeting.Saddam quietly, thanked him for the astute advise and was rewarded with an after dinner closed door audience with the Fearless Leader.Quite the compliment! He was rewarded, with a Cuban Cigar..after which Saddam showed him his vaunted Sidearm collection. The last, was a .38 S&W bluesteel.Saddam unloaded one round into his 'advisor's' head..upon whichtime,he returned to the Meeting Table leaving the Study doors wide open to full view, calmly asking for his favourite dessert and a Cognac.
And people wonder why Aziz was so complient!

This guy is some piece of work, wouldn't you say? His son-in-law bugged out and actually got out alive several years ago, and when Captain Insaneo found out, he flipped. But the guy is a sicko and he social-engineered (lied to) his son-in-law to return home to Iraq and all would be forgiven. The in-law didn't make it over the border by very much til a bunch of Saddam's thugs jumped him, tortured him and cut off his head & brought it to S.H. on a platter a la Salome from the Bible. Gruesome and sickening. Yes, he likes all things blood-n-guts: Mafia movies, historical accounts of Hitler, Russian anarchy; he studied them all and tries to live vicariously through their pasts. Wacko. Megalomaniac. Psychotic. He has got to go. Unfortunately the liklihood of his demise is slim; he is thought to be hiding in & around Iraq again. Until there is proof of his finality - assume he's around.

As far as his 'virtuous' life that he professes - hahaha    Look at the swag the forces found when they went in: LoveShacks, lol - booze, porno tapes - yah, this guy is a picture of virtue and sacrifice - NOT! Ask any of his girlfriends about his Viagra pills, he & his son's (especially) fondness for recreational pharmacuticals (drugs) etc. etc. Yah, just the kind of guy we'd see in chuch on Sunday...

His live-in Greco Girlfreind..the one with bad teeth, described him on a TV interview some months ago.She infact did mention the Viagra, which he would take with his elixers of Jack Daniels and Wild Turkey Bourbon...constantly playing Sinatra CDs and looping the 'Godfather' VCRs in a closed circuit network of Sony TVs.
His suits were Georgio Armani...anywhere from 1000 bucks to 4,000 a copy. His tailor,a frenchman complained of his wanting the slacks too tight around the waist,as Saddam loved milkshakes with honey before nighty-nite.He(the tailor) disappeared...

Well, that explains the cartoon production setup he got with the "oil-for-food" bucks/Euros; "lickety-split" anime for the Boss...? :o

 Yah, noticed the teeth - ick. Hygine is not a word over there. The $4K Armani suits probably stunk to high heaven. Everyone would disappear if they disagreed...like the old Hitler days (whom he idolized of course). Birds of a feather.... Ever see the movie "Boys From Brazil" with Gregory Peck & Sir Lawrence Olivier? ...

Thanks Bill but I'll have to pass on the sweets...just don't bribe me with Haagen Dazs or shrimp cocktails...always enjoy an intelligent discussion.

Indeed,I have seen the flick 'Boys From Brazil'..Gregory Peck brilliant as Dr Mangella.
The 'experimentation' of the Jews(and some Catholics)sans the Anesthsia.
He preformed Lobotomies..or full brain removal and 'toyed' with 'swapping' the gray matter to another unwitting 'victim'..thinking he or she was to merely have a tooth extraction. He would use Mercedes-Benz
car batteries to experiment on 'jump starting' the brains. He also toyed with 'Suspended Animation' using combinations of Rocket Fuels and Dry Ice.Hitler requested the procedure be perfected for his eternal longevity.
Stalin...ditto.
Imagine..if Saddam follows the 'Script' of his insane obsessions,we could concievably find that Saddam and whatever is left of the Baghdad 40..in BRAZIL with his Millions is Gold Boullion!I would love to see the Wiesenthal Jewish Group use thier Nazi Hunting skills to nail them! They are good..and tenatious as all hell. They NEVER quit!

I think you mean Dr. Mengele - a very sicko experimentor to be sure "on" the unfortunates. Don't go there - too ultrasicko to discuss on this fine evening. Evil incarnate. Some of us around have discussed that - the Israeli intelligence services going in quietly and hunting them down - but they would never be mentioned; someone else would take credit to protect identities. It's a solid plan. Too riskly though; don't know if they would chance being found as it would just ignite the whole situation. Makes the AZ drought look nonexistent to the tinder box they have currently. I told you weeks ago that the tuffest part would be 'after' the war - the new political setup, who would be holding the power and making decisions. Well, it's here and all the local Iraqis are screaming again - as Rosanna Rosannadanna would say "It's always something".

Indeed,it is a fine evening.I took Franklin for a late evening stroll abit ago.
It is a beautiful night.harbinger of the 'Calm before the Storms' as several nasty GOA ULLs are poised to ruin our Spring next week, albeit we need the rain as you mention. But that Wind!I hate it!
Agreed on the IIS..they are very well organised and determined. They remind me somewhat of the French Underground of WW2 and the Czech resistance of the 1950s.
As for the 'After the War' observations.Yes..I agree 100%.There is another chapter to be written soon..as the local Factions,Tribes and Power Brokers get to work.Already, assassins are busy. The ex-Crown Prince of Iraq..in his 50s ,residing in London wants nothing to do with reclaiming his Monarchial birthright.Smart dude.He would last maybe a year,if that.
This is where I take great issue with GWs plan. The 'Finish' is where we prove ourselves weak historically..with the exception of Post War Japan and the Marshall Paln.However..that was unique,in that we used the Ultimate Weapon and did not have to carve the country up with other countries to Cow-Tow to.Clearly, that was OUR ballgame. This,is not.
France is the problem..and will continue to be.My opinion is that they are becoming or are very close to becoming a potent pain in the geopolitical azz.
You may recall,in some previous remarks of mine, that Airbus Industrie was/is the Major player in the Arab Air Route world...along with the Frog Fina Petro.NOW it has been reported that Airbus has signed a mucho lucrative contract with non other that CHINA to deliver 40 Jumbos starting in 2004.This attraction the French have with 'Axis of Evil' Nations is concerning..and money,IMO is being laundered thru those concerns. The French Bank has major holdings in both Oil and Aircraft export. So,when ppl comment on 'Boycotting French Wine' or Nixing the Camambert and Brie soft cheese,I say...as you do M2..Follow the Money!
BTW,thx for correcting the Sick Doc's name spelling. My bad.

Yes, there is no way I'm giving up my brie and French wines becase of some political nonsense - the cheeses were especially wonderful at Easter brunch! So - Airbus is doing business with the PRC now heh...this dance gets more interesting every day. No wonder there are still spies around; I had thought they'd sacked those guys after the fall of Gorby but I shouldn't have been so quick to write them off. There will always be Intell-gathering especially with the sabre rattling across the pond to our West...waaaaay West.

Yes - we need a spell-check function on this msg board since most of us type fast - otherwise it's 'edit mode' for 5 minutes after posting...

Whooa, Buck! - One of your new nicknames (Starbucks),lol 8) haven't been on TWC for days so what is this about some new UULs on the way in? Wouldn't it be nice to have some actual WX to discuss again - now there's a novel concept  sheesh. We're out of the normal rain months though so if anything, it may be just a spritz - but please fill me in on the upcoming weather events. My wx radios are just stitting around with nothing much to listen to except the temp and "current conditions for the Phoenix metro area: SUNNY"... You can relate. What's new down the road....

Current Conditions: Cloudless/82 18%RH DP35 P29.81 W ENE7
Forecast: More of the same til Thu/Fri then a few clouds. Changes will be accepted.
