Tonight's show had a lot!

Portalets. Gossip. Head lice. Arrest. Gossip. Techically breaking and entering. Poker game. Drunken women. Oh yeah, did I mention gossip?

Wouldn't it be a riot if Edie and Susan become close friends after this? Stranger things have happened.

CM - I said alright when I heard 7 new episodes coming. And of course launched into my usual schpiel - this is what producers should do more of, not give us one or two new eps, then a string of reruns, then a month later another new one. When I was younger (sounding like my mom!), I don't remember reruns before the end of that current season. Reruns aired in the summer. Not during the season.

Can someone tell me who the dead body we'll see next week will belong to? Could it be Mrs. Hoover's sister's (Frasier's agent at one time) body? She's pushing the murderer a bit too much it seems like.

It's Mama Solis. SPOILERS BELOW

She will awaken, tell of the affair Gabrielle had with John(the wake up seen in the preview) and then die, which means Gabrielle is in major trouble.

Thanks Brent. Some people don't want to know spoilers but I don't mind. I could tell cast members/characters weren't too upset with her passing, figured it was someone they all barely knew.

What's the deal with Mary Alice, going by a different first name at one time? That entire family is very strange!

PS - here's the TV Guide critique for last night's show...

Desperate Housewives

"What the hell kind of street do we live on?" Edie so bluntly asked. Glad that someone in the 'hood finally recognized that there's more outrageous happenings in one week on Wisteria Lane than in Pine Valley.

But I was really grateful that the tartily-dressed outspoken troublemaker who gets shoved aside so often got a chance to shine. Ever since her only frenemy Mrs. Huber was offed, Edie has had to learn the hard way what real friends are for. Tonight, after snidely remarking, "What if you want to be supportive, but you just can't stand listening to other people mean lady?," she got a chance to put her new skills to the test, by making out with the creepy Paul Young in order to help Susan sneak out of his house undetected. Somehow I think I would have left Mary Alice/Angela or whatever the heck her name really is' ex-husband discover the neighborhood snoop who already burned down my house and stole the heart of the only sexy criminal plumber in town.

While Edie was being as self-sacrificing as she can be, America's favorite homebodies kept themselves occupied: Lynette almost had a wrestling match in a bouncy tent at a 6-year-old's birthday party; Bree got to be her deliciously prissy self while saving face and her husband from himself; and Gaby got Punk'd... oh wait that was her alter-ego who's probably going to take a hunk out of that hunky lawnboytoyfriend for setting her up; Reel Gaby got busy stealing a port-a-potty and doing her laundry in a Jacuzzi because of a nasty sewage problem. That stinks. But Bree pointedly admitted that it was more mortifying to have people laugh at you than feel sorry for you. She's got a point, the best characters on the show are the ones that we can laugh at, and with, like Gaby and her backup issues, not the pratfall-ridden and depressed Susan. — Angel Cohn

LOL - at the Pine Valley reference....from daytime soap's locale, All My Children! My daughter last night even asked me while watching DH, is this a SOAP OPERA? And yes she emphasized those SO's words......as if why am I wasting my time with this show, he he. Well, she could have gotten up from the couch at any moment...

You might have missed that bit. Paul already put the tape in the VCR once and played a bit of it. It was Mary Alice (a.k.a. Angela) at a ceremony, accepting an award. Standing beside her in the video was none other than Mrs. Huber's sister. Remember in the last episode (or maybe the last one before that...one of the more recent new ones...and it seems like it's been forever and a day since we've seen one), she commented on the picture of Mary Alice on the fridge. She said, "Oh, that's Angela" and Paul kept saying, "No, you must be mistaken, that's my wife, Mary Alice." And then he stood in front of it so she couldn't really look at it anymore.

Duckie, whatever the video tape was about, it was filmed in Utah. Remember Mary Alice's sister asking Paul and Edie if either of them had been to Utah? And it was some kind of ceremony for Mary Alice/Angela.

My biggest question is... where does Angela(AKA Mary Alice's) last name of Forrest come from? It shouldn't be her maiden name because her and Paul should have been married about 15 years ago(when Zach was born or somewhere close). It leads me to believe that maybe Paul Young is an alias as well as his real last name is Forrest? Defintely shows me they are covering something up, probably garnered the names they have now when they moved to Wisteria Lane and no one knew until Felicia(Martha's sister) because there was a connection in Utah. Something is just bizarre about this whole thing.

Hey what if Paul and Mary Alice (aka Angela) are in the witness protection program, she isn't dead and he's not a murderer? LOL I know, it's a real stretch.....but why would she have changed her first name? And why is Paul covering up the fact that Mary Alice/Angela was once in Utah, and obviously so was he.

Susan seems to know a lot more than Edie does also. She knew Mary Alice once went by Angela. I guess compared to the rest of neighborhood activities/suicides/murder(s), someone changing their first name isn't a big deal to Susan!

By now I would have huge red flags going up in my head, followed for a For Sale sign next!

Well... I forgot but Bree found a tape while they were at therapy for their marriage problems with "Angela" on it. She got back to one of the ladies' houses and they played it with all of them sitting at a table and Mary Alice is on there saying Angela is her real name. That was one of the first episodes in October.

Desperate Housewives scoop.......CC was almost Susan? I like CC too, but can't see her playing ditzy but loveable Susan.....TH is perfect for the role, I think! This is sort of back scoop....

TV Guide

http://www.tvguide.com/News/AskAusiello/

Question: How could you come back after two weeks of no AA and not have any scoop on Desperate Housewives? — Dawn

Ausiello: The glass is always half empty with you people. I was actually sitting on the Desperate dish to prevent it from getting buried under last week's avalanche of post-press tour scoop, so a) simmer yourself and b) listen up, 'cause here come the goods: Series creator Marc Cherry and I spent some QT at TCA, during which he confirmed buzz that Jesse Metcalfe would only be tending to Eva Longoria's bushes for a handful of episodes this season. "But," he added, "I'm hoping to get him back next season for a bigger story." Cherry also contributed another name to the swelling list of actresses who were considered for the role of Susan before it was offered to poor Teri Hatcher. "I'm the hugest Courteney Cox fan," he confided to my colleague, Damian Holbrook. "For about two seconds I considered going after her for the part… but then we heard she was taking time off to have a baby. But of course, I'm so glad we ended up with Teri Hatcher."

Warning: Bit of a spoiler below.

From IMDB.com's news today:

Cross Cringes at Sex Scenes

Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross hates filming steamy love scenes, as she gets embarrassed stripping off and making out in front of an entire TV crew. The flame-haired actress recently shot an especially raunchy scene, but was relieved when she found she was working with a different team altogether - and the sense of anonymity spared her blushes. She says, "Sex scenes are embarrassing. One scene was particularly hard, but we didn't shoot with our regular crew. I didn't know any of them and that really helped me out."

So, apparently Bree doesn't need to grieve for very long before hooking up with someone new. Wonder who it will be.

The stuff about Marcia Cross doesn't surprise me though. I've seen her in interviews lately and she's actually very shy out of character.

I was thinking the other day about how people have tried to argue that DH is too sexual. Aside from Gabrielle's indiscretions, I don't recall any other character actually committing any extramarital acts...yet. Bree was with Rex (hubby and wife - nothing wrong with that). Lynette was with Tom (hubby and wife - again, no problem). Gabrielle was with Carlos (hubby and wife - I see a pattern). I don't believe Susan and Mike nor Edie and Mike have done anything yet. Oh, wait...there was Rex with whatsherface. OK...two.

Now, if ya want a body count on the other hand....

Maybe it's a flashback??? From what I've heard, she isn't going to be in the mood for that, at least not for the first few episodes. Deep depression is what I'm hearing...

'Desperate Housewives' star hurt

Thursday, August 18, 2005; Posted: 12:51 a.m. EDT (04:51 GMT)

PASADENA, California (AP) -- "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria was injured during taping of the hit ABC comedy and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said.

Longoria, 30, was "bumped on the head by something" while shooting on location Wednesday and was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released, a spokesperson for the show said.

Longoria is expected to return to work on schedule, the spokesperson said.

The entertainment show "Access Hollywood" reported that Longoria was injured when a pole fell on her.

Longoria plays former runway model Gabrielle Solis on "Desperate Housewives," a dark satire about life in suburbia.

The show recently received 15 Emmy nominations from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
