I am not giving hope on the thunderstorms yet. That shower band off the coast still looks impressive! It goes without saying that the band has to get here before sunset, for the fireworks to actually happen. For a semi splitting system this thing is pretty good. We have already had 0.40 at my place today. About an inch for April, and it's only the 3rd.

It is interesting to note that the new GFS (12z run) is quite a bit colder with the trough at mid week. It has also significantly moved up the timing from past runs!

I don't know how anyone would like this kind of a day. Nothing exciting, just constant rain falling with a temp in the mid 40's Dark and wet

Maybe I would get excited if there was high winds, or thunder, something other then this cold wet rain.

Not even the mountains getting much of anything. 33 degrees at the summit of Stevens pass, and almost 40 degrees at snoqualmie.

I want the sun to return!!!

Hopefully snowwiz is right, and we do get some thunder action. NWS has completely removed it from there forecast.

Looks like the liquid not frozen stuff fallin at Stevens Pass, too bad. Would have been nice if we are getting soaked down here to at least get some snow in the mountains. I am sure Baker is getting some snow though.

Dude, this feels like a November day...dreary and cool. Unfortunately both mountain passes are reporting rain. I'm surprised...many lowland observations are in the mid 40s, yet mountain passes are reporting upper 30s. Hopefully once the front passes, a good westerly flow will develop and 500 mb thicknesses drop.

This kind of day sucks in the beginning of April. I THINK EVERYONE CAN ADMIT THAT!!

Only 5 new inches of snow during the last 24 hours up at Mount Baker.

All in all, today hasn't been that bad. We even have had some sun breaks roll through. Looks like some decent rains moving across the Sound right now, and heading right towards our area, but over the last few returns of the radar they seem to be dissipating rather quickly. Not a good sign if you want thunder and a few minutes of very heavy rain.

Brennan, I didn't get a chance to go up to Mount Baker, perhaps next weekend. Hope you had fun up there today!

Certainly an odd one today. 45 degrees at Sea - Tac and raining in the mountains. Apparently the 850mb temps rapidly increase from west to east today. I think the mountains will fare better once the more westerly flow kicks in later. With the flow so southerly today the pool of cold air and the moisture got stuck in the Puget Sound basin. Quite a shame that the ski areas were open today, and they had the worst conditions in a week.

It now appears that the trough later in week will be colder and the flow more westerly, so I would expect the mountains will see signficant snowfall at that time.

I just had a pretty heavy rain shower pass by that included some small hail. So at least yesterday's forecast wasn't a complete bust.

Hi folks, and good evening all. Well nothing too exciting here today...thanks to very slow moving front with skies not really becoming partly cloudy till early this evening. So in turn, that has greatly reduced any thunder shower activity to a VERY minimal chance. Also was pretty rainy through about mid-afternoon, along with some light showers at times later on in the day. My high today was 52 with a low of 42. I recieved .39" of precip so far today.

Looking at the radar (and out the window) it looks like a very strong cell just missed me by a few miles at the most, its moving to the North East rapidly. Looks very dark out to the North right now.

This picture was taken just shortly after a good rain shower moved acrossed Woodinville. No hail, thunder or lightining with this rain band.

Believe it or not, these dark stratus clouds kinda broke apart and only produced a little light drizzel/sprinkles.

An uneventful afternoon for the lowlands and mountain passes. Snoqualmie Pass has been reporting rain all afternoon and Stevens Pass has a rain/snow mix...no accumulation thus far.

We had a fair amount of rain this morning, but this afternoon has been mostly cloudy and cool.

I know some are gonna get pissed...but I want the sun/warm temperatures back.

Acording the 12z and 18z GFS....our warm sunny weather wont be returning for at least the next couple weeks or more, as weak to moderate and very showery systems come through our region roughly every day or so. These system may also contain breezy/gusty winds at times. Thus, cool and unsetteled weather continues as embeded troughs in the Jet stream will be hard to time, due to little min high pressure ridges here/there that try to build but get suppresed by oncoming weather systems.

Hopefully we will get a good windstorm within the next few weeks, especially a mountain wave event. Those are the best in my area.

I say we put the nail in the coffin of the "drought" and just get a ton of rain and mountain snow for April (even if it only means snow above 4k). Then after that things can return to normal. All ready Seattle has about 1/3 of it's total April rainfall so we should be able to get well above average precip. by the end of the month. Let's keep the systems rolling.
