Internet Addiction......
What would you consider symptons or traits of someone who is addicted to the internet? Been a heated discussion in my house lately and just curious to get ya'lls opinions on this ....

Interesting question.........I have seen many TV shows that focus on that very thing and all the traits that the "internet addicts" had was choosing the internet over family and their own responsiblities. The majority of the people they showed had a desk top full of empty fast food bags and their home was in shambles. The family's major complaint was that they were no longer part of the family and family activities. No outside stimulation or relationships with people other than those on the computer screen. What a yucky life that must be.

First thing you do in the morning - log on.
First thing you do when home from work - log on.
Wake up in the middle of the night, and, on
the way back from the bathroom, log on.
Stay awake all night - logged on.
Laying in bed thinking about something or
someone on the net, get up out of bed - log on.
(All of the above combined - not just one by itself)
LoL, I did those things for a year or so until the "newness"
wore off!

If you have nothing else to do, such as myself... I find going online to interact with people very good for me. There isn't many people my age living where I live and if I were more outgoing I probably would spend less time online, but I can't know that with the way I grew up and the location in which I live now.
We are all different and for one am not an outgoing person.

Here are ten signs of an addicted person.
1) He has never ever seen his very best friends who are named after animals, weather terms, cars, and bad music.
2) He'll use his last vacation days to install a modem and make sure it is working online, but will ignore the need for time off to have an annual physical.
3) He sits and ponders for hours in a cyber room affectionately called "sittin' on the front porch!"
4) He seems disappointed when "breaking news" e-mail does not show up in his mailbox.
5) His spouse or significant other is absolutely convinced there is an online affair going on even though it is denied with a chuckle and a belly laugh! Not only that but it is a sexual one.
6) He gets the shakes and withdrawal when the power goes out.
7) There are more than two dozen different food and drink stains on the keyboard because the desk has become his dinner table.
8) He's played with his mouse more than he's hugged his wife.
9) He truly believes that the answer to everything you need to know in life starts with a trip to "Google."
10) His most highly prized milestones in life are measured by the number of posts he's contributed or the number of kbs he can download in one minute flat.
Oh..excuse me, did I say "He?" I must have meant she...
Cuz I be a he who aint no way addicted!

1) Is up at all hours of the day and night using the PC.
2) Needs to log on at work, school, friend's houses.
3) It's the only source of information that person receives.
Just my guesses...
I didn't read anyone else's comments before I jotted down mine. There are some pretty good (and funny) signs listed as well!

I scored a 37. But I have to admit it gets bad during hurricane season - last year I had to make some changes in my lifestyle and internet usage. I know have other hobbies and do things in real life and interact with real people.
Thanks for all the comments and etc that everyone has posted.
