TT-SEA wrote:Just reading some posts... I see Snow_Wizzard is still rooting for plain old cold weather regardless of precipitation. I saw a prediction from him of highs in the 40's today and then read a post from Andy with 64 degrees this afternoon!!! I think someone is forgetting it is April.

Just to clarify some things, he was making this prediction as if the precipitation would move over the areas that hadn't already been getting it (from about Olympia west). The fact is, the places that got the precip this morning and are still getting it are only in the mid-40's. This would have been the case if the precip had gotten over this site of the Sound earlier in the day.

So true Justin!

I am rooting for the wet and active weather. It is necessary to get the cold high temps this time of year.

Still dry here at the moment, with a temp of 47 degrees at 6:40PM

Here in the LK Goodwin area we have had measurable precip every single day since the 26th of March totaling just over 2.5"

Just about the total put together for Jan and Feb!!!

Anyone watching the Mariners tonight? Should be a great game (and a close game at that, noting the starting pitchers Santana and Meche).

R-Dub...I think the premise of that article is way over the top. For some reason the academic people are convinced that global warming is inevitable when we are still not outside the envelope of what has been normal at some points over the last 1000 years. I am still betting that 5 years from now, everyone is going to wondering why it is so cold around here all the sudden!

Speaking of cold...we have got two VERY deep and cold troughs slated to swing through here over the next week to 10 days. At day 7, the latest runs are showing a massive bowl carved out over us. That one could really bring some serious weather and of course BELOW normal temps! I think we have not yet seen the coldest and most exciting weather that we are going to see this month!

I'll never understand why Snow_Wizzard wants well below temperatures in April. lol.

Today was a typical Spring day...breezy with mild temperatures. Not much rain, aside from a few sprinkles this morning.

The front currently stalled off the coast should eventually move through Thursday...but not before it begins to split. Nothing significant and snow levels should remain above pass level until the upper level trough passes through.

As for this weekend and next week, the GFS seems dramatic for almost the middle of April. It currently looks great for the mountain passes, but too cold/wet for my taste. I have a feeling the GFS will back off in the coming runs.

Where's Summer?! lol.

Summers over Anthony, it was in Feb, and March

Seems like we are in November now

I agree though, also a little too cold and wet for my taste as well, I would like to play on the lake before October comes

Anthony...It's the big picture! Historically, cold weather in certain parts of the year bodes well for cold winters.

The GFS has certainly had a wide variety of solutions over the past few days, concerning the massive trough in the 6 - 10 day period. Some runs show it will stay massively deep for days, and others just a couple of days. One thing they all have in common, is that the trough will arrive and it will bring at least a short period of very active and very cool weather.

The MJO is still in a deeply negative phase, so it is unlikely that any real improvement in our weather will occur before the 20th at the earliest!

Hey Randy and Anthony....how does 65 sound for a high temp? Yep...that`s what my high was today! Low was 39. Also kind of a overcast day with a little bit of sun late this afternoon, before clouding up again and having a little rain early this evening. -- Andy

Andy...That high was certainly a fluke. Most places did not even get close to 60! Even in Covington, where we had a fair east wind today, the high was 58.

The average temp so far this month is 45.9...well below normal. After tomorrow, below normal is all we are going to see for a long time.

Since the massive weather change on March 26th Covington has had 4.40 inches of rain!

It certainly looks like a very interesting period is on the way for tomorrow night through Friday. First of all the ETA is showing dramatic height and thickness falls tomorrow night with a very strong onshore flow developing (possible strong winds in some areas). Along with that comes sharply colder air aloft and plunging lifted index values. In short, Thursday could be a very nasty day. After that a cold front comes through with cold air already in place, so the mountains will get a lot of snow out of that. Enjoy tomorrow, because after that it is WILD AND WOOLEY! Now this is April!

As snow-wizzard stated....looks like we`ll be having a couple nice troughs of low pressure moving through our region. One on the 8th or 9th, and another one on the 14th. Acording the GFS...this one that`s aimed to come in by end of this week looks to be more of a surface trough with 850MB heights of 1350M and temp of -3C with 500MB vorticities of 534 to 540DM. The second trough that comes through here around the 14th looks just a tad warmer. Now looking in the extened, it appears that every few days, cut-off troughs of low pressure will heading down into Northen California. So by viewing the Jet stream, it will at times, be pointed into the area mentioned. That also means that the active weather that we`ve been seeing as of late...will be in the Northern Cal region.

Well we hit the 70 degree mark right when I was leaving work at 2:30PM!

Here at home, its 67 degrees with Mostly Cloudy skies. Wearing my shorts right now!! 8-)
If I wasn't so tired from work, I would have hit the lake as well. There are a few people out crusing around in boats right now!

Wow, we seem to be one of the cool spots today. We are currently sitting at 62 F, after our high so far today of 63 F. It's been Partly Cloudy throughout the day.

An awesome Spring day!! We hit the 70F mark today!! Not much sun, but mild temperatures!!

As for the extended, the trend of splitting systems is starting to arise. The system due on Friday is now expected to split and head into northern California. It's been happening most of the Winter...why not continue into Spring?

Next week looks cool and showery, but you can't bet on anything right now. One week ago, models were showing cool/showery weather for today and look what happened!!

SUMMER RETURN!!
