With all this rain on top of what we had last Friday I think we are gonna need it!

There is a tornado warning for that area also, the tornado that is radar indicated is expected to remain in rural areas. A nasty day in south central MS and lots of damage reports too.

This event is no where near as bad as last weeks rains. Looks like the coast will end up with 3-4 inches of rain from this system far less than the 10 inches some spots received last week.....MGC

I hope you haven't spoken too soon...it is still just pouring here in Pascagoula and we were still water logged from last Friday's 10.75 inches. The only thing saving the majority of the roads from flooding is that the tide is out....thank goodness! I don't know what time it changes, but if it starts pushing back in with all this still coming down, the flooding with start again like last week when you couldn't drive on a road in Pascagoula without being in water up to your door.

PS I will note as I listen to it pour down on the roof that it looks like it is 8:00 pm and its only 3:45 and that would be new time 8:00pm...so way past dark thirty! But at least no more Tornado Warnings. Only occasional thunder and lightening. Thanks Duckie!! you need to come and "swim" we got enough water for everybody!

Hey MSRobi, I think the heavy rain should be ending in a hour or two out your way. Just checked doppler radar estimates and looks like your area is approaching 4 inches. I'd say you could get another inch or so. 5" is better than 10" worth of rain. I was living in Gautier back in 1980 and we got a 13" rain one Sunday morning. Talk about flooding. Stay dry.....MGC

Not only is southern MS under the gun, but so is northern MS. A tornado has been reported 4 miles east of Oxford, MS NEAR HIGHWAY 30 moving east at 25 mph. Law enforcement relayed this report to the NWS.

Severe thunderstorms continue to be widespread throughout Mississippi and heading into Alabama with numerous tornado warnings continuing in almost the same places as we seen this morning.

28 tornadoes have been reported so far and actually the Oxford tornado would make that 29 tornadoes for the day so far at latest count. That tornado count continues to rise and spread into new areas also.

If There is any room left in that ark, send it on over to Santa Rosa County in Florida. ON top of the almost 14 inches we received last week...were being bombarded again by a storm that just refuses to move away. My yard is totally flooded. And apparently it will be tomorrow evening sometime before the rain stops according to the forecasters.

Well I guess we can send the ark to Pensacola, the rain seems to have let up thank goodness. We got 6 inches of rain in about that many hours. The trip home which usually takes me 7 minutes took 37 minutes today. The mean green vanmochene was a mean green boat...or it felt and sounded like it. Every street that runs north and south and most that run east and west were flooded. Many cars were flooded out. The drains were not flowing at all, too much water. When I got home the bayou one house over from me was way way out of its banks, but thank goodness not in my house. We are still under flash flood warning but I think we are pretty much safe from that now. One of the ladys that works with me tried to get a ride home with another coworker and she could only get so far towards her house. She had to get out and walk to her house, the water was waist deep! So we had some water today....but I don't think we need the ark anymore.

Jackson county seems to be the rainfall winner in south Miss today. How much rain have you had over that way the past week? 15-16 inches? Looks to me that south Baldwin County over in Alabama really got wet today.....MGC

Pascagoula was issued a Tornado Warning this afternoon between 1 and 2. Doppler was tracking the tornado near Pascagoula moving NE. No reports of any damage.

MGC with 10.75 last Thursday/Friday and almost 6 inches today that would make 16.75. At 5:30 Mike Reader said we had 5.89 inches and he rained after that big time so I am sure we went up the other .11 of an inch to 6.....don't know how much more the ground can hold.

My two neighbors to the west have an undergrown drain in the back yards to help prevent all the run off coming thru my yard and standing in theirs and the drain is at the corner of our back yard fence. When my son got home from school the drain was stopped up with leaves, etc. so he went out to un stop the grateing......he said MOM, a vortex opened up and I thought it was going to suck me down!!!! I should add he weighs about 240 and is 5'10", don't think that was gonna happen, but it sure was funny hearing him tell me that!

Mike Reader says more rain next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...yuk!

Yep. I need a boat here in Mobile also. It rained hard tonight but nothing like last Thursday/Friday.
