In defense of the Dixie Chicks..

I've enjoyed the Chicks for a few years since moving here to the desert, but I do admit I have lost my enthusiasm for them. Their music since reminds me of the very poor taste..very poor use of words..that Natalie really meant when she said them.

Mistakes I can forgive...but these were the words of someone who has clearly forgotten how to be humble and how to respect another person regardless of their differing opinions.

Comments like those have no redeeming entertainment value either...nor do one hour programs on the topic that could have been addressed inside of 10 minutes or less.

How many times do people riding the crest of a career lose site of where they came from, who they are, and their responsibility to their fans.

Sounds like the Dixie Chicks are on the verge of making another major-league career boo-boo...

Posing nude for a magazine may be as damaging to their cd sales as what Natalie said about the president...it certainly lowers my opinion of them

I understand you point Perry but I have to disagree. IF she had sincerely apologized then I might feel different. The only thing I saw remorse for was her pocketbook. :-(

Even the President said they are welcome to their opinion today!! That is what this country is all about!!! Doesn't mean we have to agree with it or like it! What Natalie did was plain stupid!! Hell, I hate war and what it does to people, but I am not going to denounce our President or our troops for doing what is/was IMO a necesarry thing. As I've always said, "you reap what you sow". Sow away Dixie Chicks!!! Heck I forgave her a long time ago, but I will never support her or that group again unless there is a SINCERE APOPLOGY, which I haven't seen yet IMO.

.....posing in the nude with "words" written on their bodies is supposed to make everyone think they made a teeny mistake?? Would this be their approach if they were shaped like Wynonna Judd?? Somehow, me thinks this is just another misguided attempt to cover up........or perhaps UNcover........a huge mistake.

Celebrities need to comprehend the impact of each and every thing they do.......they worked hard to gain respect.......but that respect can be lost very easily. They're not on my list of favorites any more!.......p :wink:

Arizwx.... I remember the song "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac well. I have never understood why the Dixie Chicks received a grammy for it. They did not write it nor are they even close to singing it the way Stevie sang it. When the Chicks received the grammy NOT ONCE did they even mention who originally wrote or sang it!! I have not liked them since.

Being the person I am, I forgave them until I saw their interview on Primetime and now the picture on the cover of Entertainment Magazine. Sometimes things are better left alone and given some time. I am with you on that one Perry.

As far as the other board that treated you that way, it is their loss and Storm2k's gain. We love you Perry. :wink:
