Just kidding, not a hurricane, but a very nice cyclone with subsidence near the center making it resemble an eye! :)

thought for a moment that this was referring to a repeat of the 1962 Columbus Day storm, which may have still been a cane at landfall (is debated, was a Pacific Typhoon that maintained tropicla characteristics the entire trip across)

Yea, but it had an eye like feature that was looking more like Frances' 70 mile wide deal.. At least to me.. :P
