All radars are down in the US

#1 Postby Anonymous » Fri Apr 08, 2005 6:16 pm

I just checked our radar as some rain/tstorms are headed our way. It was over an hr old so I checked others around the area and it said the same thing..I looked farther west all the way out to oklahoma and they have all been down for an hr or more. Is it my PC or is radar everywhere really down?? Maybe it has something to do with the eclipse?

Try this...

http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?ID=JAX

It would take something really catastrophic for all radars to go out... everything electronic in your home would go out before NEXRAD.

Ohh-ok it must have been a problem with the NWS sites. I always go staight to the NWS site for radar thinking that is the best place but apparently wunderground is fast too.

I've had other times when the radars are old on the NWS site. They are my primary source, but I always check to make sure they are updated. Weather Underground actually has newer images(sometimes only a minute or two old).

I like wunderground's radar myself. Since I have a account there ($5) I get 40 radar frames which is nice and no ads.

I don't know really - I've noticed any sites using the "srh" in the link (which stands for "southern region headquarters") don't work at times. Usually, if you replace the S or W (in the case of WRH), with a C (for central region...) the site works, no matter which region you are in. This is true, unless of course, the radar is down for maintenance.

Sometimes when there is a hiccup in the radar sites, I find that the College of Dupage is working just fine:

You can get both radar and satellite nice site!!
