Just-for-fun poll

#1 Postby Andrew92 » Fri Apr 08, 2005 6:24 pm

First off, I hope this isn't too sensitive of a subject, because while I know we all like to guess each year which name "sounds" like the big one, this is a more far-reaching version of that poll. If it is, please forgive me.

Anyway, on with the poll:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml

Which names do you see as possible big ones through 2009? You don't have to have one for every year; in fact, you can even only say one if you desire.

When the C, F, I, and J names for 2010 are official, I'll open the poll for 2010. And yes, your mind may change between now and the year the name you pick is scheduled to happen. For instance, you may pick Gabrielle as the big one for 2007, but it's so far out that if you change your mind, feel free.

My responses:

Gert sounds like a big one in 2005. In 2007, I know Humberto has been a fish, but that name sounds to me like a ticking time bomb. Jerry is little different. One or the other just don't sound right to me. And in 2009, I don't fully trust Henri or Ida for some reason.

In 2006 and 2008, I most am weary, I guess, about Ernesto and Josephine, respectively. But nothing really sticks out to me either of those two years for some reason.

Again, if this is too sensitive, please forgive me. It's only meant as a variation to "which names sound like big ones" that we do every year, just for each year up to 2010. I know that hurricanes are really not fun to go through and I fully understand if this is too sensitive. But I am just curious if anyone else likes to look that far ahead at the names too.
