Well, there goes an early-turn in night....forget sleep. I gotta hurry up my family down there in the family room. I hear them watching Arrested Development, recorded from earlier.

Now I have to watch....I was going to catch some shut eye and try to watch tomorrow.

Thanks Shawn - must see TV on Sunday night!

Mrs. Huber's creepy sister told Creepy Zach that he is really named Dana. She met him when he was a baby(that's the whole secret life in Utah). Zach found out that the woman in the trunk Paul dumped in the lake was a private investigator who had came to take him away... they killed her(chopped her up) and that seems to be at least part of the big secret Mary Alice was trying to hide.

The document Gabrielle was forced to sign was a post-nupt that if Carlos went off to jail she wouldn't divorce him or have an affair(already broke the latter and he's not there yet!).

Oh... and she's pregnant. Can't wait to see how that turns out(by Carlos, it was at the very beginning before the credits).

Brent - do we know for certain Gabrielle is now pregnant? I saw her drinking wine. I just don't like her character, at all! I like Edie better, and Edie leaves a lot to be desired. Gabrielle and Carlos seem very superficial and shallow people. The person in this mess I feel sorry for is the teenage boy she's getting involved with again. It's only a matter of time before he confronts Carlos.

Now to Zach/Dana. Do we suspect he was a kidnapped baby, taken by Mary Alice and Paul, raising him as their own? Or was either one suspected of being an unfit parent? I'm trying to figure out why a private investigator was trying to take Zach away in the first place. One more question about this family - is Zach an only child?

Bree spanking Lynette's kid. We could debate all day he and his brothers need discipline but when a neighbor spanks your kid, that's going too far. I had to laugh later when Lynette threatened to march her boys over to Bree for a spanking, not that she herself would do it. Yeah, always grow up fearing your neighbor....LOL

I've noticed a few networks or shows go 1 minute past the hour. Fox does this with That 70s Show, we have to program it to record until 8:31 or 8:32. So we missed the last few minutes of DH - what happened Lynette and Bree made up and were about to walk inside for coffee? Did Susan's mother come back to her house? And what were the previews for next week?

Thanks.

Desperate Mom Can't Resist Men
by Mary Murphy

If you saw Sunday's Desperate Housewives, you know Lesley Ann Warren is a major handful as Susan's mother, Sophie. As the wacky actress told TVGuide.com last week, she's got five episodes' worth of trouble to get into. Care to know what's in store for the remaining four? Just read on. Otherwise, stop now, because there's some serious spoilage ahead...

In her next episode, Sophie gets sweet on the ice-cream man when his truck comes rolling down Wisteria Lane. "Then I pick up two guys at a club and bring them home — one for me and one for Susan," Warren laughs. "Of course, I [am] drunk at the time."

Come May 1, Bob Newhart returns as Morty, Sophie's ex who owns the pancake house. Yes, he's back, even though she left him — and bit him! "There is an exciting surprise coming from Newhart's character that affects not only the life of my character," Warren says, "but the life of every character on Wisteria Lane — especially Susan and my granddaughter."

By the way, Warren insists we shouldn't believe those rumors of DH's behind-the-scenes bickering, despite that scathing Vanity Fair exposé.

"People say all these things," she sighs. "I can tell you there is no weirdness, nothing at all. There's absolutely no truth to the rumors [that the women don't get along]. It is so loving. Marcia [Cross] is hugging Eva [Longoria], Felicity [Huffman] is hugging me, Teri [Hatcher] is hugging Nicollette [Sheridan].

"Believe me, these women are out of their minds with happiness and gratitude. They are clear that this is an amazing gift."

Well... the opening showed things Gabrielle knew she wanted, that she liked red, she knew men were all the same(single neighbor flirting with her), and that she didn't want children, well Carlos was out on the porch behind her and saw the little boy he had loving him and stuff. So... they go to them in the bed together, and they are going on about how they differ, she commended him for sticking with her, and he said, well you don't know for sure it won't happen. Then they start making love, and we see split screens of Carlos changing her birth control pills and then Mary Alice says "and that within a week, she'd be pregnant".

She doesn't know it yet though, it'll be a few episodes before she does.

But who will be the father???? Mary, that was my favorite part too when Lynette threatened her sons by telling them they would be sent to Brea's house for a spanking. My next favorite was when Brea barged into the father/son conference proclaiming that she WAS a good mother and then retreated to the car when she found out her son might be gay.

Carlos is a jerk!!!

That's a good question... because the voiceover didn't say she became pregnant then, it said "within a week", and in that time she went back to John.

My favorite scene was when Susan's mom was talking to Mike about who Susan's father was and all that. Hilarious... and a little too much information.

I must have missed that bit about within a week she'd be pregnant. We will have to wait until that baby is born before paternity is proven. Don't forget the nurse heard Carlos' mother's last words. She knows Gabrielle isn't faithful. That will come out later. Poor John though - he's much too young to get caught up in this storyline. Can't help but think, there's only a 7 year age difference between the two characters. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have more than twice that.

I'm guessing Gabrielle gets so much air time b/c she's married. That character just bores me - doesn't seem to fit with the others, too young for starters and quite self-involved for another. I'm also partial to Edie/NS since I was a diehard Knots Landing fan once.

My favorite character still is Lynette. She seems the most real of all of them. And then none of them seem like anyone in my neighborhood!

TV Guide reviewer has it all figured out......

Desperate Housewives

Certainly not the funniest episode so far. That scene with Carlos physically forcing Gabrielle to sign the postnuptial agreement was DH's most disturbing scene to date. (Oh, c'mon, Mrs. Huber's strangling was not that bad.) Carlos instantly went from unpleasant, controlling husband to the show's reigning bastard. And John finally returned, just in time to provide a new mystery as to who will be the father if Gabrielle's "surprise" pregnancy actually happens.

In fact, this whole episode had a pervasive theme of violence and physical intimidation. From the police telling the remaining "Youngs" about the chopped-up woman found in the trunk to the shoving and throwing issues involving Susan's mother (Lesley Ann Warren) and stepfather (Bob Newhart) and, of course, Bree's spanking of little Porter Scavo.

And then there's Mrs. Huber's sister (Harriet Sansom Harris). She is so sickeningly sweet and splendidly conniving all at once, it's a thing of absolute beauty. So it appears (and I can't emphasize that word enough) that good ol' Mary Alice Young (or Angela) swiped Zach when he was a baby, changed his name, and then disposed of the female "private detective" who came calling for him. Private detective? Try real mother, I bet. The question is whether she was anybody notable or just a random soon-to-be corpse.

The whole spanking scenario was pretty interesting, which, I'm sorry to say, doesn't usually apply to the Scavo story lines. I mean, they're decently amusing and all, just not overly riveting. But this time there was a little more for Felicity Huffman to do than just act harried and disheveled. Thankfully, Bree and Lynette's friendship bounced back quickly. But the bigger question for Mrs. Van De Kamp is how she (and Rex) will ultimately react to Andrew's coming out. But that's for next week....— Danny Spiegel

New wife to appear in season finale and be a full-time seemingly normal housewife next Fall. Normal, I bet! Alfre Woodward will join the cast soon.

In The News: Desperate Housewives, Martha and More!
Tuesday, April 12, 2005

DIVERSE HOUSEWIVES: It looks like the ladies of Wisteria Lane are going to have to regroup for a new cast photo. Desperate Housewives has tapped Alfre Woodard to join the show full-time next season as a seemingly normal housewife who moves into the cul-de-sac with her son in tow, per Variety. The four-time Emmy winner will appear in this season's final episode before returning in the fall as a series regular. Upon hearing the news, Marcia Cross allegedly called her new costar to say, "Get your f---ing ass over here now and do your f---ing job!"

BACKLASH SHMACKLASH: Speaking of Housewives, all the negative publicity surrounding that Vanity Fair cover brawl didn't hurt the show's ratings. Sunday's episode attracted 25.4 million viewers, its best showing since January. Now, how about a group hug, ladies? Just make sure Teri's not in the middle. Or wearing red. Or looking at Marcia. Or..

I watch DH each week, but I am almost getting lost in the different story lines they are developing. Must be a male thing. Still I like it so much more than any of the past evening "soaps".

Honestly, I couldn't say what happened or what I think about what happened because I didn't get to see it. But my best friend called and said, "OH!...my GOD!! You know that thing about Utah and Mrs. Huber's sister knowing Zack's mom and all that?" And I said, "Yeah...she knows her as Angela." "Well, guess who Zack is?" I said, "Dana." "HOW'D YOU KNOW?!?!?!"

Carlos isn't gonna be too happy that Gabrielle is pregnant by means of the young gardener kid. :( :(

Thanks Brent - forgot that nurse was listening to music. Gabrielle caught a break there!

As far as Carlos being upset it won't be his child. My prediction is he won't know for some time. The baby might even be born and end up looking like the gardener. Which could plant the seeds of doubt in Carlos' mind and a paternity test will be ordered.

I'm a Dallas veteran....this is all starting to remind me of John Ross Ewing III - either JR Ewing or Cliff Barnes could have been his father. But in the end, JR was his father.

Shawn - yeah, he's smart enough to do the math. Wam, bam, thank you maam.....LOL If she has one more cycle but pops up preggo, Carlos will know right away he's not the father. He's just so controlling, he'll hold that over her head and take the kid as his own. Explaining Gabrielle was overdue at delivery. Meanwhile, college bound gardener will be asking his parents for legal help, etc.

Sigh...just wish I liked Gabrielle more to really feel sorry for her. I liked Sue Ellen a lot. Just not this one.

Sorry, slipping back into my Dallas memories!
