Do you read every post in a particular thread?

Do you read every post in a particular thread?

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Sat Apr 26, 2003 3:47 pm

I noticed the same thing on the TWC boards and forums, and even commented about it there as well, (on the former off-topic board there; sometime between it's existance between Wednesday, October 15th and Wednesday, February 5th).

You can't properly respond to a thread if you haven't read what had happened since your last visit.

No offense to anyone here at all on this issue. I find it interesting that this occurs. If we want to post "accurately" we should at least make an attempt to read as many posts, if not all the posts made.

I don't read every thread (topic) but I usually read every message in the topic before posting unless it's really long, or I've been there before. Sometimes people go off on tangents anyway. Did I ever tell you about my dogs.........

Ugh! I can't seem to get any of my posts straight the first time. I can't be the only member with this "problem." :(

Ed, that is exactly what I meant... reading every topic in a thread, not specifically every post in every thread.

I was thinking of reading every thread in terms of being a thorough member of Storm2K. I try to read every thread to see what is going on to the fullest here. When I am not online for awhile, which will happen, I will still try my hardest to read through a majority of the posts.

I will get online less often during the two week period, beginning May 27th. :)

LoL, Tom, I was reading your initial post differently, too...
thread vs. topic.

I don't post on all of the threads, either. If I see a topic
that interests me, I will read everyone's posts before
I comment.

I don't post in every thread (topic), either. I still read through as much as I can to see if I may want to respond to someone in particular and/or more than one person.

I don't read everything that is posted on a particular topic - just because I don't have the time and also - I don't like reading some people's posts.

But that doesn't make me a bad member for that reason.

I try to read every thread and every post! If I am going to reply to a particular thread, I do normally read all the posts pertaining to that topic (thread)

Thank you for responding, Bronwyn. :)

I understand Patricia. I certainly know it doesn't make you a bad member for not reading member's post. :D

I would assume you always do not read certain member's post.....

I just brought this issue up because sometimes I read along and a some times members of ours seem (at least) not to have followed along. I apologize for bring up yet another issue that may not be considered appropriate, for lack of a better word.

I appreciate that very much, Bron. :) I figured it was worth bringing up. There are a number of little issues that may actually be important when they are brought out for discussion. :D

I try to read every post before I post. If I don't think I am going to post I only read a few, if any, posts in the topic.

I usually have enough time to do read a majority, if not all the posts made here. Of course, there will be times I will not be able to do so in the attempt to catch up the best I can. I agree it is understandable not to read each and every post. :)

.....However, my initial point makes sense. In order to follow along with the various issues we should really read as many as we can. :D

I notice that sometimes a post in the game forums isn't in line correctly, even after a number of minutes have passed. The "story thread" doesn't make sense at times.

I even catch up on all the "Fun & Game" threads that I missed between logons. :) How about you?

Time is an issue in many cases, so I read what I have time for. How about them Bucks??? But, if the topic seems interesting or people post comments that seem fitting, then I'll read them.
