Technically what are the chances of South Florida getting any Hurricanes this year??? Is SW Florida more likely???

There's no way of knowing for certain, but let me tell you a little tidbit of info.

Wait until the month of May is over and if you find that the month was drier than normal, there is a higher chance of a landfalling system this season. This has NOT been totally linked to landfalls, but it may have some sort of relation with the position and strength of the Bermuda High being closer to the coast of the United States, helping to drive the easterlies into southern Florida.

Again, don't take this as a true hint of what might happen as individual patterns will guide systems at the time they're actually present.

Now, climatologically speaking, southern Florida has about as equal chance of having a landfalling hurricane as the southern coasts of Louisiana and the coast of North Carolina. In other words, higher than the national average...
