poll on south east Florida

Is South East Florida going to see another Hurricane this season, yes or no??????????????

South East, really you mean South Florida. That's how we talk around here. West Palm Beach south to the FL Keys is South Florida. Ft. Myers South along the west coast is SW Florida. My opinion is that within the next 3 years. South Florida will get hammered by a cat 3 or higher. It's not that I want it, it's just that when things get active in the Atlantic as they are doing usually South Florida pays the price. Just look at hurricane tracks from the 1930s and 1940s as an example of what I am talking about.

No, it will not---gonna be a lot of activity, but looking at the SST's, the warmest water is equatorial. Mexico's gonna get hit a lot.

perhaps, I could see that happening, the water is already quite warm for April in the regions you speak of.

I expect three storms for Florida.

A Category One Hurricane on the West Coast in July
A Category Four Hurricane in Southeast Florida in September
A Tropical Storm in the Panhandle in Sept/Oct

That's just my opinion, but, if the ridge holds, my estimate may be too low.

My opinion---repeat of the Gilbert senario, hitting Mexico, or Central America......sizzling SSTS in BOTH Atlantic and Pac will make for lots of activity there, but very little in Florida. Lots of LOW equatorial stuff, but few US landfalls.

two very different extremes proposed here by Stormchasr and Floyd...the suspense is killing me though to see what happens. It's really not until late July and into August before things get going out there.

It's also too early to tell if the ridge battens down like it did last year. It's anybody's guess right now, so I vote:

Its all speculation @ this point.We could sit here everyday & try to forecast what is going to happen this season but not even the highest paid,most respected professionals in the field could tell you with much degree of assurance.
