Suspicious package closes streets in downtown WPB

WEST PALM BEACH - Police closed off downtown streets this morning after a suspicious package was found.
Unconfirmed reports say the package was found near the library on Flagler. Drivers are not allowed south of Olive from Banyan. Flagler is closed.
More details to come.
For those that don't know, Sunfest is a HUGE festival they have every year in West Palm. It runs for about 5 days and attracts thousands of people. I would think that if it was a bomb or something it would be hidden so it wouldn't be found. Probably a package someone left behind.

I don't think this is terrorism, at least I hope not.

These are some of the groups that are going to appear. They should attract a lot of people.
• Wednesday: The Beach Boys, Uncle Kracker
• Thursday: Sheryl Crow, Southside Johnny
• Friday: James Brown, Guitars & Saxes, Tonic
• Saturday: John Mayer, Nick Carter, America, Pilar Montenegro
• Sunday: Bob Dylan, Shaggy, Sixpence None The Richer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Yellowjackets
I hope they have everything covered. I haven't been to Sunfest before but the festivals that I have been to had an area for the concerts. I hope they have them seperated.

Suspicious package closes streets in downtown WPB

WEST PALM BEACH — A briefcase left on a bus bench near Centennial Park appeared suspicious enough to bring bomb squad officers and police who closed Clematis Street from Olive Avenue to Flagler Drive for about two hours this morning after receiving a call about 8 a.m.
The briefcase, detonated with a water cannon about 10 a.m. was found to contain "nothing of any significance," a police spokesman said.
Police will attempt to contact the owner of the briefcase, who apparently left it behind as an oversight, the spokesman said.

Hope the briefcase had nothing important for that man.
