Cold in Galveston

#1 Postby KatDaddy » Sat Apr 30, 2005 10:32 am

Cold front has moved off the Upper TX Coast. NNE winds gusting over 40 MPH. Temps in the 50s. Almost May!?

Crazy isn't it? So much for the Gulf waters warming.

I didn't come across any record cold temperatures for any part of Texas today, but there were some in the Mid-West.

RECORD LOWS SAT APR 30th 2005

Cedar Rapids IA 27F
Kansas City MO 31F tied 1903
Chanute KS 33F
Joplin MO 34F
Jackson TN 40F tied 1996

Well... we were supposed to make it to 72 with afternoon sun.

NOT

Cloudy, dreary and dark with drizzle all day. Like the dead of winter. Only managed 64(where we sat all night as well).

Tell me about it... I NEVER thought I'd be using a coat on April 30th... which I did for a little while. We don't have the wind though(yet) so it wasn't as bad.

We also had to crank up the heat in the car for a little while!

Yeah, even way up here in Toronto, Canada... it was 6C 42F for most of the day with cold north winds, bleak overcast skies and intermittent light rain, had a raw feel to the day, almost (dare I say it) winter-like. I saw my own breath at 2pm outside, thats how cold it was!
Normal highs this time of the year are nearer 16C 60F.

But it was good for the movie theater business, it was plenty crowded today. Good weather to catch a good movie.
