When they built this product, the NCDC was mainly focusing on actual advisories issued by the NHC for 2004 rather than the best-track reanalysis. I sure it will appear on next year's image for 1950-2005.

Not to mention...Erin was not a Cat 2 in Pensacola, Danny occurred in 1997, not 1977 and made a landfall in Venice, LA, and Georges was a cat 2 not a cat 1 in MS.

It would be interesting to see what the map would look like if they went back to mid 1920's especially for Florida

They also list Agnes as being a Category 1 hurricane at Long Island. I know it was close to hurricane strength, is this an upgrade?

Also, didn't Helene in 1958 pass extremely close to the Outer Banks?

I thought they did find Category 2 winds in Erin.

There are no landfalls shown from the NC Outer Banks northward to Long Island. But if my memory serves me correctly a weak TS came ashore in 1981 near Virginia Beach. Cant seem to find a record of it though.

In the graphic they were only listing hurricane-landfall, no tropical storms or weaker...

They didn't list 1920-1950 because there would be no room around FL to list how many hurricanes hit. :eek:
