Washington back sentenced for frat house assault

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Mon Apr 28, 2003 12:51 pm

SEATTLE (Court TV) — A University of Washington running back pleaded guilty April 18 to gross misdemeanor assault in connection with a February scuffle outside a fraternity house.

Rich Alexis will have to perform 50 hours of community service within 90 days, pay $350 in fines and take anger-management classes. The charges could be erased from his record if he avoids trouble for the next two years. Coach Rick Neuheisel has said he also will impose a private punishment on Alexis.

Alexis and teammate Reggie Williams were not allowed into a private fraternity party on Feb. 22 because they were not on the guest list. Alexis punched one of the fraternity brothers who was acting as a security guard outside the house. Alexis admitted punching the man and said he should have just walked away.

Alexis, 21, led the Huskies in rushing last season with 688 yards and 10 touchdowns on 202 attempts.
