#1 Postby boca » Wed May 04, 2005 3:51 pm

According to all the discussions I've been reading the last few days they all say dry next week to almost very dry. Boca_Chris maybe your on to something. This will be the last short wave or trough to affect us down here in S FL. Let's see what happens.

well maybe. It doesn't seem like this cold front wants to leave anytime soon. When it does, I'm curious to see if another trough comes in...it looks like we are not going to have the ridging we had last year which is good news for floridians for hurricane season.

I think its a little to early to call if we will have the ridging like we had last year, its on the beginning of may lets wait and see what the rest of the month has in store for us.

That would be good news for Florida. When you say it looks like you won't get the ridging are you talking about for the season or just in the short term?

Sounds like ridging is forecast to build in as soon as the developing low on the dying front/baroclinic zone lifts out to the N and E. More active weather for y'all tomorrow perhaps. From the Miami NWS office this afternoon...

WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS A TROUGH DIGGING INTO SOUTH TEXAS AT THIS TIME. IT IS THIS FEATURE WHICH WILL ACT TO EVENTUALLY SPIN UP A LOW LATER TONIGHT INTO THU OVER THE EASTERN GULF...ETA TAKES THE LOW ACROSS NORTHERN FL THU MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON...WITH THE TRAILING COLD FRONT MOVING ACROSS SOUTH FLORIDA EARLY THURSDAY NIGHT. FORECAST SOUNDINGS SHOW DEEP MOISTURE AND VERY IMPRESSIVE CAPE (>4000 J/K) INCREASING ACROSS SOUTH FL TOMORROW AFTERNOON. LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL BE ENOUGH SFC CONVERGENCE ALONG/AHEAD OF FRONT AS WELL. GIVEN ALL THIS AND THE PLACEMENT OF THE UPPER TROUGH JUST TO OUR WEST AT THE TIME OF MAX HEATING...BELIEVE A SEVERE POTENTIAL AGAIN EXISTS TOMORROW AFTERNOON. LIMITING FACTOR WILL BE CLOUDINESS...WHICH WOULD SUPPRESS HEATING. HOWEVER...BELIEVE THAT MINS WILL STAY IN THE 70S ALL AREAS OVERNIGHT...SO IT WON'T TAKE MANY BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS TO REALLY HEAT THINGS UP. DECIDED TO GO WITH LIKELY/CATEGORICAL POPS INTERIOR/EAST FOR TOMORROW AFTERNOON

...GIVEN ALL THE ABOVE. WILL MENTION STRONG STORMS FOR TOMORROW...THOUGH SEVERE IS POSSIBLE. THIS WORDING CAN BE BEEFED UP TO SEVERE SHOULD CONDITIONS CONTINUE TO LOOK FAVORABLE WITH LATER MODEL RUNS. CONFIDENCE IS HIGH THAT THE FRONT WILL CLEAR SOUTH FL THU NIGHT (SHOWN BY GFS/ETA/ECMWF)...AND HIGH PRESSURE WILL SETTLE IN ACROSS THE AREA FROM THE NORTH THROUGH THE UPCOMING WEEKEND. THIS WILL RESULT IN SLIGHTLY COOLER AND LESS HUMID CONDITIONS ALONG WITH DRY CONDITIONS.

Not again :grr: . Getting sick of all these thunderstorms. May is supposed to be the glory days of sunshine and warmth without all the snowbirds.
