Native American - Indian - Injun

#1 Postby kevin » Sun May 08, 2005 11:02 am

Indian - Incorrect, they are not from India. Just because Columbus was wrong doesn't mean we should call these people the same as those in the subcontinent of India.

Native American - Politically correct but as bad as Indian. Derived from Amerigo Vespucci, who was an explorer dude. I bet he killed Indians!

Injuns - Derived from Indian, so that's a downside. However sufficient for colloquial use.

Trans Siberian Mongoloid Descendants - Perfect.

And what about other trans-siberian mongol descendants?

This gets interesting... I'm first generation American--yet your system could get me classified as "Native American." We've got the Siberians... and if you look at the family photos, there's mongol in there...

"Trans Siberian Mongoloid Descendants - Perfect."

That could get you in big trouble with the Mongols. :larrow:

Your PC is just cultural imperialism. Sorry to say.

Persepone bring up an interesting point.

Mongoloid refers to their basic ethnicity. There being Caucasoid, negroid, and mongoloid. You would have come to America across Siberia to qualify. Descendants places them all in a specific wave or series of waves. I would be in favor of you qualifying if you swam from Russia to Alaska. :D

Not immigrants, conquerors. No european applied for papers. Personally I think the indians stole America from the giant sloths. The giant sloths are the True AmericansTM.
