HELP !!!!! A/C not working....

#1 Postby BUD » Tue May 10, 2005 4:59 pm

The a/c is not coming out cold. the filters have all been changed. We think it may be the compressor. But could it be the thermostat or just need more freon. We had freon put in it last year. The fan outside is working. Thanks

More then likely its the compressor.. Considering you just got freon put in last year its doubtfull its that.. Unless you have a leak obviously.. Eitherway get it fixed man.. I feel for you.. Life without AC just isnt life.. lol

Either it is the compressor, or a leak in the refrigererant lines. Does the compressor make a sound when it engages, or is it just the fan freewheeling?

Are the coils frozen up? Our are in the garage away from the compressor unit. If they are you can use a hair dryer to melt it and that will take some time. Been there done that. The drain line could cause that to happen so you may want to see if it is plugged up with slime or something else. You can pour bleach through it to get the sludge out. If you need a part it should only take 5 days to get it.

Here's to hoping its not your compressor. Hopefully its something minor. The price of compressors is sickening.
